Grade 12 students, Cayden Brown (Design Drafting) and Keegan Watkins-McIntyre (Collision Repair) from Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School have just returned from the 2019 Skills Canada Competition in Halifax, Nova Scotia. They were part of the Team Manitoba crew competing at the National Level. The Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC) is the only national, multi-trade and technology competition for students and apprentices in the country. Every year, more than 550 young people from all regions of Canada come to SCNC to participate in over 40 skilled trade and technology contests. Skills/Compétences. Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release Police received a report of an incident in which individuals were sprayed with bear mace in the 3100 block of Victoria Ave at 4:30 am. Three individuals who were known to each other were allegedly having a disagreement over money owed. The suspect turned out to be a female youth, who also contaminated herself with the mace. She was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Center after she was decontaminated. She will appear in court on a later date for Possession of a Prohibited Weapon. One of the other individuals she sprayed, a male youth, required medical assistance to be decontaminated. The 3rd individual involved, a 19-year-old male, was found to be wanted on outstanding charges. He was also found to be in breach of court ordered conditions to abide by a curfew and not to consume alcohol. He was also arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear in court today on charges of Breach of Undertaking, and Breach of Probation.

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release Brandon Police Service received a report of a Break and Enter that occurred overnight on the north hill while the homeowners were inside, and asleep in an upstairs bedroom. The point of entry into the home appears to have occurred through the garage overhead door, then into the basement. Suspects then stole a TV which was mounted to a wall. Anyone with information on this break and enter is encouraged to contact Brandon Police Service.

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At approx. 2:40 AM this morning, Police received a report of a male who had sprayed several people with “bear spray” in the 100 block of 17th St.  Officers attended and found that 4 people were sprayed by an aboriginal male suspect who had fled prior to Police arrival.  It appears that the suspect got angry when he was advised there was no alcohol at that location and in response he sprayed the four victims.  The can of pepper spray was recovered on scene. One of the victims was taken to hospital for treatment, but later released, the other three were treated by BFES on scene.  The matter is still under investigation.
