The license plates on the vehicle at the time of the stop were reported as stolen, and the driver was found to have no driver’s license. Once the driver was arrested, police located 6.6 oz. of Meth in his possession. The 31-year-old male will appear in court on July 11, 2019.

Brandon, MB May 21, 2019 - Daly House Museum is pleased to present The U.S. National Library of Medicine’s traveling exhibition, “Pictures of Nursing: The Zwerdling Postcard Collection.” This six-banner exhibit highlights pieces of unique collection of nearly 2,600 postcards from around the world that depict nurses and the nursing professions. “This unique archive consists of postcards with images of nurses and the nursing profession from around the world, produced between 1893 and 2011 with many examples coming from the Golden Age of postcards –roughly 1907 to 1920,” says the U.S. National Library of Medicine website. “These images of nurses and nursing are informed by cultural values; ideas about women, men and work; and attitudes towards class, race, and national differences. By documenting the relationship of nursing to significant forces in 20th century life, such as war and disease, these postcards reveal how nursing was seen during those times.” Subject explored by the exhibit include the religious and cultural origins of nursing, the historical status of nursing as a career, the gender dynamics of the profession, and the artistic representation of nurses throughout the 20th Century. The Daly House Museum has also added a special edition to the exhibit that focuses on history of nursing and the nursing profession in Canada.  The edition focuses on the heritage of nursing within Canada and the experiences of local nurses at Brandon General Hospital and the Brandon Mental Health Centre.  The exhibit will be on display until June 22 in Daly House Museum’s rotating exhibition gallery. Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At 11:42 pm police responded to a report of an attempt Break and Enter to a camper in the 3300 block of Rosser Ave. When the home owner confronted two individuals in his yard, he was sprayed with bear spray. The two males fled the area. One male, described as wearing a dark coloured hoodie was believed to be on foot, while the other was riding a bicycle. The victim was transported by BFES to the hospital where he was treated. Police also received reports of suspicious activity conducted by 2 suspects in nearby neighborhoods both before and after this incident. Extensive patrols did not turn up any suspects. Manitoba Finance’s Taxation Special Investigations Unit executed a search warrant on Wednesday, May 15 at a Brandon residence and seized 68,150 contraband cigarettes and $3,760 in cash. A 37-year-old female resident was found to be in possession of illegal tobacco products that were not marked for Manitoba tax purposes.  She now faces charges under The Manitoba Tobacco Tax Act, The Tax Administration and Miscellaneous Taxes Act and the Criminal Code. Manitoba stood to lose $20,104.25 in tax revenue if these products had been sold.  For a first-time offence, individuals face fines between $1,000 and $10,000 and/or up to six months imprisonment.  If convicted, the accused is subject to a triple tax penalty of $60,312.75. Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At approximately 1:30 pm police receive a report of a disturbance occurring at an east end residence.  One of the individuals who was responsible for the issues left prior to police arrival, but continued to cause problems at a second address a short distance away.  The 18-year-old male was arrested for Breach of the Peace and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre to prevent any further disturbances. At the original disturbance location, a male youth who was wanted on a warrant for his arrest was located.  Upon his arrest Police located a can of bear mace on him.  He too was lodged at Brandon Correctional Center and will appear in court today on charges of Possession of Prohibited Weapon, Possess Property Obtained by Crime, FTA court, and Carry Concealed Weapon.
