Source:  Brandon Police Service Media Release At 12:10 on Saturday, officers responded to a domestic disturbance on Baker Bay.  A female in the residence had asked a friend to call police as she was being assaulted by a male in the residence.  When officers attended, a male was located in the residence with a stab wound to his chest.  He was transported to BRHC and received treatment for a non-life threatening injury.  A 26 year old woman from Brandon was arrested and will appear in court on Sunday morning on a charge of Aggravated Assault.

Brandon male arrested allegedly in possession of a loaded, sawed off 20 gauge shotgun

Source:  Brandon Police Service Media Release At 2:00 pm on Saturday afternoon, a 911 caller reported a male in a residence on Cornell Bay who was intoxicated and had a gun in his possession.  Officers attended and located a female in the residence who was intoxicated and causing a disturbance. She was arrested for Breach of Peace and lodged to be released when sober.  When officers approached the residence, a man was observed at the side of the building with a shotgun in his hands.  The man was taken into custody and found to have a loaded, sawed off 20 gauge shotgun.  He had also severely damaged the interior of the residence and was breaching several conditions of a recognizance order.   The man, a 19 year old Brandon resident, was lodged at Brandon Correctional and will appear in court on Sunday on charges of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public, and Breach of Recognizance.

Brandon Police nab 2 alleged impaired drivers within hours of each other

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release Impaired Driver At 0210 hours, a 52-year-old Brandon male was stopped in the 2600 block of Victoria Avenue and showed signs of impairment.  He was arrested and provided two breath samples over the legal limit.  The male was charged with Impaired Driving and Drive over .08.  The driver was released to appear in court later in January. Woman found to be in possession of bear spray reportedly gives police false names

Source:  Brandon Police Service Media Release On January 17th, 2019, at 10:30 am police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in a parking lot in the 900 blk of Victoria Avenue. Initially the driver would not provide any identification. Once the 34 year old Brandon woman was arrested she provided police with numerous false names as well as providing stolen identification. As a result of this incident the accused was charged with: Possession of a Weapon, Possess of a Prohibited Weapon, Possession of Property Obtain by Crime, Possess of a Weapon Contrary to a Prohibition Order, Breach of Probation, Public Mischief, Possess a Scheduled Substance (CDSA) as well as a Breach of her Recognizance x2. The accused also had 2 warrants out of Winnipeg and 1 from Brandon. As a result of this incident, the accused was lodged at BCC for Brandon Court on January 18th, 2019.

2 Vehicle Crash Closes Westbound Victoria Ave

A two-vehicle crash that occurred Thursday afternoon caused a closure of westbound traffic along Victoria Ave near 24th Street. Brandon emergency services responded to the collision, which was blocking westbound traffic in the intersection of Victoria Ave and 24th Street. Police rerouted traffic north, and south at 23rd Street and Victoria Ave. Fire crews dispersed sand near the crashed vehicles to soak up leaking fluid.
