Shortly before 3:00 Wednesday afternoon, fire and police crews responded to the intersection of 10th St and Victoria Ave for a two-vehicle crash. The crash involved a mini van and a small four-door car. The impact sent both vehicles off the roadway onto opposing sidewalks, with the mini van striking a traffic light and shearing it from it's base. Traffic was impacted while emergency and tow truck crews worked to clean up the scene. Thankfully nobody appeared injured during the collision. Photo Credit: Liam Pattison Photography

Source:  Brandon Police Service Medias Release At 9:30 last night a resident in the 700 block of 10th Street reported her vehicle stolen.  The vehicle had been left running with the keys in it.  At 11:50 pm, members of the RCMP followed the stolen vehicle into Brandon from the #1 Highway.  The vehicle was abandoned in the 3400 block of Rosser Avenue and the occupants fled on foot.  Police established a perimeter and with the assistance of a canine unit, one male was located and arrested.  A 24-year-old male from Brandon is charged with possession of property obtained by crime and will be appearing in court in the morning.

Manitoba Sustainable Development reminds Manitobans that the holidays are the perfect time to have some outdoor winter fun, particularly by taking advantage of all the great outdoor opportunities available in provincial parks. Provincial parks offer trails for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, tobogganing, fat biking and snowmobiling, along with outdoor skating ponds, hockey rinks and toboggan hills. Park interpreters have planned several family fun experiences over the holiday break to encourage Manitobans to discover our natural resources and cultural history, such as: trek along with an authentic fur trader from the Northwest Company to exchange goods, furs and stories at Spruce Woods Provincial Park on Saturday, Dec. 29; meet fur traders at their winter camp and see them fire their muskets and cannons at the Spruce Woods Park Centre on Sunday, Dec. 30; snowshoe around the Nimowin Trail, followed by an outdoor fire with hot chocolate and marshmallows at Birds Hill Provincial Park on Thursday, Jan. 3; and snowshoe to the scenic Pine Point Rapids, howl for wolves and listen for their return calls with the park interpreter in Whiteshell Provincial Park on Friday, Jan. 4. While events may be free, park vehicle permits are required year round in provincial parks.  The 2018 provincial park vehicle permit remains valid until April 30, 2019. Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At 5:15 am, multiple calls were received from a residence in the 3500 block of Willowdale Cres requesting Police be sent to the address. Upon Police arrival, they located a 38 year old man from Sioux Valley that had warrants for Uttering Threats, Possessing a Firearm while Prohibited, Possessing a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Breach of Recognizance. He was lodged at BCC and held for court in the morning.
