Another day, another accident

Another day, another accident, this time in the 800 block of Frederick Street. User submitted photos.  No other details available at this time. October 8, 2017 Update:  Brandon Police Service Media Release At 9:37 PM, police received a call that vehicle had driven onto the front yard of a residence in the 800 blk of Frederick St. Police attended and arrested the 25-year-old male driver. He provided samples of his breath in excess of the legal limit. He was later released on a Promise to Appear in court on October 12, charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Over .08.

Disturbance leads to charges of Rivers man on domestic incident

Brandon Police Service Media Release At noon Thursday, police attended to a report of a disturbance in a business parking lot in the 1100 block of 18th Street. It was found that a female had escaped from a vehicle there, and fled from her boyfriend who had assaulted her over the previous 12 hours. The accused had choked, punched and slapped the victim, and refused to let her leave their residence during which time he also threatened to kill her. At some point, the couple left their residence in Rivers where the female was being held against her will, and attended to Brandon together. It was while they were in Brandon that police first became aware of this matter, when BPS were called to the 1100 block of 18th Street. After the victim escaped the vehicle in the parking lot, the accused attempted to regain control of her but was scared off by a passerby. The accused then fled the area. A warrant of arrest had been issued for the accused, Matthew Brian Dickenson, age 26 years, of Rivers, MB, as police were not able to locate him. Dickenson was located by Rivers Police Service and arrested. He was transported to the Brandon Correctional Centre where he will appear in court this morning charged with Assault, Uttering Threats to Cause Death, Forcible Confinement, Choking to Overcome Resistance, and Take a Motor Vehicle Without the Owner’s Consent.

Stolen Vehicle vs. Transit Bus/Building Motor Vehicle Collision

Brandon Police Service Media Release At approx. 3:30 PM, police received a report that a 2011 Lincoln MKS had been stolen from a residence in the 300 blk of 4th St. The stolen vehicle was travelling East on Princess Ave. moments later when it went through a red light at 10th St. and Princess Ave. and struck a North bound transit bus, causing it to strike a building at the north- west corner of the intersection. The collision with the building caused structural damage and the bus had to be left in there overnight to prevent the possible collapse of the building. Residents of an upstairs residence had to be relocated due to safety concerns. Remediation work has taken place and it is expected that the bus will be moved today. A twelve-year-old Brandon resident will appear in court this morning charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle and numerous Highway Traffic Offences.

City bus runs into building at 10th and Princess

According to some multiple witness reports a city bus ran into a building at the corner of 10th Street & Princess Avenue after it was forced to swerve to avoid a car who had just ran a red light.  The accident happened around 3:50 this afternoon.  Additional information likely will be released tomorrow in the Brandon Police Service Media Release. Thank you Joel Snyder and Mike Wasilka for the BDNMB.CA news tip of the day.

Car crashes through window of Brandon business

A Ford SUV crashed through the store front window of the Phillips Insurance Agency (510-1st St)  in Brandon on Wednesday afternoon, at approximately 3:35 pm.  BDNMB.CA was informed that nobody was hurt, or injured, during the crash.
