Robbery Arrest Made

On January 31st ,2024 police attended to a residence in the 300 block of Dennis Street and arrested a 17-year-old female for robbery. On January 30th at 9:45 pm police were called to a residence in the 200 block of 15th street. A 49-year-old male had answered his door for an unknown male and a female he knew.. He was struck in the head, and they entered his residence and stole various electronic items. The victim was taken to hospital with a non-life-threatening head injury and later released. The major crimes section is continuing the investigation.

Traffic stop uncovers approximately nine kilograms of Fentanyl

On January 25th, 2024, members of the Brandon Police Service and Royal Canadian Mounted Police Traffic Services conducted a Joint Forces Traffic Safety and Enforcement Initiative on the Trans-Canada Highway in and around the City of Brandon. At approximately 11:30 a.m., members from BPS and RCMP conducted a vehicle stop approximately five kilometres west of Brandon on a Manitoba licensed vehicle for a traffic violation. Upon further investigation, both subjects were arrested under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and a search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a bag containing approximately nine kilograms of Fentanyl. The street value of this drug is estimated at $1.1 million dollars. A 27-year-old male and 23-year-old female have been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Controlled Substance and were scheduled to make their first appearance in Court on January 26th, 2024

Downtown scuffle leads to assault arrest

On January 28, 2024, at 2:42am, police were dispatched to an assault that was occurring outside a business in the 900 block of Rosser Avenue.  Police located a male and female in the area.  The female disclosed being assaulted by the male.  The male was subsequently arrested.  The 25 year old arrested male was found to be bound by 2 court orders that included conditions not to be in contact with the female and a condition not to leave the Province of Quebec.  The male was arrested and lodged at the Police Station where he later appeared before a Justice regarding the matters.

Police investigate downtown robbery involving baton

At 1:57 pm, Police received a report of a robbery that occurred in the alley in the 300 block between 15th ST and 16th St. The adult male victim was walking in the alley when he was approached by two males who were not known to him. One of the suspects struck him in the arm twice with a baton and then after taking a small amount of cash from him struck him in the head with the baton and fled the scene. The victim was transported to BRHC where he was treated for his injuries and released. Police are on the lookout for two suspects described as: Indigenous male, approximately 6’3 in his mid 20’s wearing a red hoodie, red sweat pants. Indigenous male, approximately 5’10 wearing a black ball cap with a black puffy jacket and had a tattoo under his right eye. We are asking anyone who might have any information or video surveillance of the suspects to contact Police.

Partygoers accused of stealing cash, earbuds from host

On January 25th, 2024, at 00:30 a.m. Police were called to a residence in the 1110 block of 2nd street north. The homeowner had hosted a party and two individuals he knew left and stole $280 cash and his earbuds. A 22-year-old female and a 20-year-old female were located in the area with the stolen items. Both were arrested and released for court on March 25th, 2024.
