Search Warrant of Sportsplex Locker-room Thief Nets Cell Phone Cases, Gift Cards

Brandon Police Service Media Release Theft Under $5000 X 5 As a result of an ongoing investigation into thefts from the dressing rooms at the Sportsplex, a search warrant was executed on a residence in the 1200 block of 9th St. During the search, a couple cell phone cases and various gift cards were located in the residence. The 37 year old Brandon female of this address was arrested and later released on a Promise to Appear in court, charged for 5 counts of theft. She is scheduled to appear in court on April 27th (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});   Theft of Vehicle As short time later a report was received of a parked car that had been struck in the 1300 block of 10th St., the suspect vehicle was believed to be the stolen Equinox. Just prior to 9 AM Sheriff’s officers at the Court House called to report the stolen vehicle and suspect were at the court building. Officers attended and arrested the 21 year old Brandon male who at the time showed signs of being impaired as the result of the consumption of a drug. The male will appear in court today charged for theft of motor vehicle, possession of stolen property as well as breaching two release conditions from previous charges. Charges in relation to the impairment by a drug are still pending, as that portion of the investigation is still ongoing.

Brandon Police Service Media Release Domestic Assault: On Sunday night, a male attended to BPS to report that his girlfriend had assaulted him at a residence in the 600 block of Park Street. The victim said they had an argument and his girlfriend pushed him against a wall, choked him and slapped him in the face. A 31yr old Brandon woman was located, arrested and released to appear in court in March. Assault: On Sunday afternoon, police received a disturbance call from a residence in the 500 block of Princess Ave East. Police attended and learnt that a 14yr old female had assaulted a male by striking him in the face. The female was arrested for Assault and released to attend court in March. The victim did not receive any physical injuries as a result of the assault. On Sunday afternoon, a female reported she was robbed of her shoes at 17th Street and Rosser Ave. After further investigation, it was determined the female had not been robbed but had lost the shoes at a residence the previous evening. The female had been contacted by another female who had found the shoes and arranged to meet her. They got into argument and the victim was struck numerous times in head and face. A 20yr old Brandon woman was arrested for Assault and released to appear in court in April. The victim received minor injuries as a result of the assault.   (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});     Warrant Executed: On Sunday, Emerson RCMP attended to a disturbance at a local establishment and located and arrested a male on a BPS arrest warrant for Fail to Attend Ident, Breach of Probation 3x and Assault. A 24yr old Portage la Prairie man was held in custody and will appear in court. Breach of Recognizance Order: On February 18th 2017, a curfew check was conducted at a residence in the 3700 block of Centennial Blvd on a male, who was not located, and it was discovered that he was not abiding by the curfew on his recognizance order. On February 19th 2017, police attended to the residence and located the 14yr old Brandon male, he was arrested for breach of recognizance and lodged at BCC for court in the morning. Other Arrests: 1 person was arrested and detained for Breach of the Peace

Possession of Stolen Property / Assault with a Weapon

Brandon Police Service Media Relase February 18, 2017 At approx. 1500 hrs on Friday afternoon Police received a call of a hit and run in the 100 block of McTavish Ave. The suspect vehicle rear-ended another vehicle and then drove away. Police then received another call that a similar vehicle had hit a snow bank in the 300 block of Frederick St. A witness on Frederick indicated there had been a female and two males in the vehicle. At one point, the witness was detaining the female as police were called, and one of the males approached her and pulled a large knife from his waistband in an attempt to gain the female’s release. The witness did release the female and all three suspects fled the area prior to police arrival. Officers flooded the area and began a search, eventually capturing all three suspects, they were arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional. Two of the suspects, a 14 year old Brandon female and a 16 year old Brandon male were will be released Saturday morning on a PTA charged with possession of property obtained by crime. The third suspect, a 16-year-old male from Long Plains will appear in court later today charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of property obtained by crime.   (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

Manitoba RCMP requesting assistance in locating 18 month old girl

Source: Royal Canadian Mounted Police At 11:15 am, Selkirk RCMP were advised that 18 month old, Seaira Neveah HUNTER, and her mother Rebecca MIKALOSH, 36, had not attended a scheduled visitation with Seaira’s father. Rebecca MIKALOSH was taking care of Seaira but did not have the authority to take her daughter outside of her local area. RCMP investigators spoke with Rebecca over the phone on the morning of Wednesday, February 15th and she confirmed that she had Seaira and that both were doing well. However, she declined to meet with police. Further contact was made the evening of Wednesday, February 15th between a family member and Rebecca, but again, Rebecca declined to meet with police. Investigators have been searching and attempting to locate Seaira and her mother throughout the day and into the evening but have been unable to make further contact. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});   "We are asking for Rebecca to contact us so that we can confirm that Seaira is doing well" said Chief Superintendent Mark Fisher of the Manitoba RCMP. "We are also asking anyone who may have seen or been with Rebecca and Seaira to contact their local police immediately. " It is believed that Rebecca is travelling west with Seaira in a grey 2001 Ford Taurus with Manitoba licence plate number: GVD 275. They may be in western Saskatchewan (North Battleford/Saskatoon area) or Alberta. The Manitoba RCMP has issued a Canada wide warrant for Rebecca MIKALOSH for the Abduction of a child under 14. Seaira HUNTER is described as Caucasian, approximately 2’9" tall and 20 lbs. Rebecca MIKALOSH is described as Caucasian, approximately 5’6, 120 lbs, short brown hair. An Amber Alert has not been issued as there is no indication, based on information investigators have at this time, of imminent danger of bodily harm or death to the child.  

One Man Arrested Following Standoff in Brandons West End

With files from Brandon Police Service Media Releases A 39-year-old male been arrested for multiple charges including Assault (Domestic), Assault with a Weapon, Overcoming Resistance to Commit, Threaten to Cause Death and Forcible Confinement following an “isolated incident” in Brandon today. Early morning reports indicate that Police were involved in a standoff with a man in the 100 block of 24th Street. Shortly after a statement was released requesting the public avoid the 100 blocks of 25th Street to 23rd Street between Princess Ave and Rosser Ave. It was believed that the male had weapons inside this residence, and the Tactical Response Team was called onto the scene. Police were able to eventually establish communication with the suspect where it was determined that no one else was in the house. The suspect did not comply with police direction and was sequentially taken into custody around 3:30 pm. The male is known to police with a history of violence.
