MB Summer Fair adds accessible parking, priority seating & golf cart shuttle

May 29, 2017 Brandon, MB – As planning progresses for the 135th Manitoba Summer Fair, organizers are committed to creating an outdoor venue that is accommodating for guests with mobility issues. “Building an outdoor show has hundreds of logistical issues,” said Ron Kristjansson, General Manager at the Provincial Exhibition. “While some barriers are out of our control, we continue to look for solutions on improving the accessibility of the Keystone Centre grounds and our Fairs.” For this year’s Manitoba Summer Fair, organizers have added accessible parking at the southeast and northwest gates, priority seating at the north Horse Show ring and Demo Derby Arena, and a golf cart shuttle from the south parking lot to the gates. Kristjansson stated that while the entrance at 13th & Hill Ave has historically been an exhibitor and pedestrian only entrance, vehicles with a valid Parking Permit will be allowed entrance at this gate for easy access to the RCMP Musical Ride and arena shows. “We are very excited to be hosting the RCMP Musical Ride this year as part of our Canada 150 celebrations. “ Said Kristjansson. “This iconic Canadian tradition is a perfect tribute to the city, the Horse Capital of Canada, and to the Brandon Fair’s 135th shared birthday festivities. Other events taking place in the outdoor and indoor arenas included the Alberta Mini Chuckwagon racers, an Open heavy and light horse show, ApHC & ApHCC sanctioned show and a youth cattle show on Sunday afternoon. Advance gate admission is $8 and includes the Musical Ride, sideshow entertainment and agriculture events.
