Police arrest male suspect in connection to stabbing incident in Brandon

Police seize meth with estimated street value of $60,000

Brandon Police Service Media Release On Thursday at 8:19 PM, Police conducted a traffic stop on Provincial Highway #10. A search of the driver and vehicle resulted in the recovery 200 grams of Methamphetamine, $300 cash and an open box of 7mm bullets and a magazine containing three 7mm bullets. A 31-year-old man from Brandon was arrested for Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of Proceeds of Crime and Unsafe Storage of Ammunition. The man was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Friday.

VEHICLE FIRE – STOLEN VEHICLE

Brandon Police Service Media Release VEHICLE FIRE -  STOLEN VEHICLE At 8:00 AM, Police received a call from an individual who was driving past 17th Street East at Richmond Avenue and heard a very loud “boom” coming from the area of the gravel pits. Members of BPS and BFES attended the area and located a vehicle totally engulfed in flames. The vehicle fire was extinguished and the vehicle was found to be a 2016 Ford F-150. At 12:21 PM, the owner of the vehicle contacted Police and reported that the vehicle was stolen sometime overnight from the 1000 Block of Russell Street. Investigation continues into the cause of the fire and the theft of the vehicle. POSSESSION OF PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME On Saturday night, a 34 –year- old male was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center for Breach of Probation. At the time of arrest, the male was in possession of a wallet of another male. On Sunday morning a male contacted Police advising that his wallet had been stolen from within his vehicle the night prior. The 34-year-old male from Brandon was arrested for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and was released to attend Court in May. The wallet was returned to the rightful owner. IMPAIRED DRIVING At 1:59 AM, Police conducted a vehicle stop in the 200 Block of 14th Street. The driver of the vehicle was placed on a road side screening device resulting in a Fail. The driver was transported to the Brandon Police Service where breath sample were obtained which exceeded the legal limit. A 38-year-old female from Brandon was arrested for Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mg%. The female was released to attend Court in April. PUBLIC MISCHIEF / CARRY A CONCEALED WEAPON At 4:20 AM, Police stopped a vehicle in the 1400 Block of Princess Avenue. The driver provided a false name to Police however another officer attended and recognized him from past dealings. The 22-year-old male from Brandon was arrested for Public Mischief and was also found to be in Breach of four conditions of a Recognizance. The male was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Monday. During this traffic stop, a 23-year-old male passenger was removed from the vehicle and a bulge was noticed in his waistband area. A metal Swiss Arms replica pistol bb gun was discovered. The passenger was arrested for Carry a Concealed Weapon and Possession of a Weapon. The male passenger was released to attend Court in June. STRUCTURE FIRE At 6:53 PM, a 911 call was received reporting a fence and garage on fire in the 100 Block of 2nd Street. BPS and BFES members attended and the fire was extinguished. Initial investigation indicates that the fire started at the rear of a garage and spread to a garage on a neighbouring property. Investigation continues into the cause of the fire and at this time it is considered suspicious. OTHER ARRESTS Two People were arrested and detained for the Breach of the Peace.    

12-year old Brandon youth tries to use stolen credit card

Brandon Police Service Media Release Domestic assault, utter threats A 21-year old Brandon male has been arrested on multiple charges including assault (domestic) x 4 and utter threats following a series of incidents in Brandon. Police say the accused had assaulted his partner numerous times, between June 1st, 2016 and April 19th, 2017, including punching, pushing & slapping her. It was also reported the accused threatened to kill the woman during the most recent incident. At that point she contacted Police looking to have her partner booted from the house. The suspect now has a May 18th date at the court house. 12-year old tries to use stolen credit card A 12-year old faces multiple charges of Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card after trying to use a stolen credit card at several locations in Brandon. According to reports the accused youth had tried to use the credit card at a local banking institution, as well as three other businesses. Police using video surveillance, obtained from a business in the 2300 block of Victoria Avenue, were able to identify the suspect and he now has a May 16th court date.

19-year-old Brandon man arrested for string of recent robberies

Brandon Police Service Media Release Police investigation into three separate Robberies with violence has led to the arrest of a 19-year-old Brandon man. On April 12th 2017 at 3:30 AM, a 27-year-old male was walking on the bike path near Fotheringham Drive and was approached by two males who forced the man to attend an ATM and withdraw cash. One of the suspects brandished a weapon, which was described as looking like a screwdriver. The victim was not injured in this attack. Just after midnight on April 15th, Police responded to a report of male covered in blood near 34th Street and Victoria Avenue. The 70-year male was at the recycle bins and was approached by a male who demanded cash and the victim’s vehicle. A struggle ensued which resulted in the suspect stabbing the victim numerous times in the head and face area. The victim was transported to hospital and eventually taken by STARS to Winnipeg with serious injuries as a result of this attack. The suspect fled the area with the vehicle and wallet belonging to the victim. The vehicle was later recovered on Cherry Crescent. On April 15th at 6:51 PM, Police responded to Falcon Crescent after receiving a report that a male had been cornered in his garage by three suspects. After a brief struggle, one of the suspect took cash and keys to the 81-year-old victim’s vehicle. Police k-9 tracked to the Brandon Shopper’s Mall and the suspect was arrested inside the mall. Police investigation has linked all three Robberies to the same suspect. The 19-year-old Brandon man was arrested for Robbery with Offensive Weapon X 3, Robbery, Aggravated Assault and Fraudulent use of a Credit Card X 2. Continued investigation has revealed that suspect is also responsible for a Robbery with Violence and Forcible Entry that occurred on April 14th at 12:02 AM. The suspect and two other males forced their way into a residence in the 2600 Block of McTavish Avenue. The suspect assaulted two males within the residence and stole a cell phone and cash before fleeing. The suspect has been additionally arrested for Robbery with Violence and Forcible Entry. The man was held in custody to appear in Court on Tuesday. Police investigation with respect to other Crimes and Suspects involved continues.
