Submitted Brandon School Division is pleased to announce that the YMCA of Brandon will be providing child care opportunities to our School Families during the 2017-2018 Half-Day Professional Development Days. Brandon School Division will be providing space in most of our K-8 Schools, within the City of Brandon, for the YMCA of Brandon to run their School Break Half-Day Camps, similar to the format you may already be accustomed to. School Break Days provided by the YMCA of Brandon provide a fun environment for children aged 5-12 while school is out. Brandon, Manitoba, April 27, 2017 – Kelleher Ford is bringing Ford Motor Company of Canada Limited’s innovative Drive One 4 UR School program to the Brandon community in an effort to raise up to $6,000 for Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School. For every person who test-drives a Ford vehicle at the school on April 29, 2017, Kelleher Ford and Ford of Canada will donate $20 to the Crocus Plains Football Club. “We’re excited to partner with Crocus Plains School to help raise funds for their football club,” said Mike Boutilier, General Sales Manager at Kelleher Ford. “The Drive One program is a great opportunity for us to help a local high school cover some expenses while showcasing Ford of Canada’s innovative safety technologies and eco-friendly options to parents, teenagers and other drivers.” The event, which will be held from 8:00 a.m. till 4:15 p.m., will feature the full range of Ford cars and SUVs, as well as select F-Series models. Since the start of Ford’s Drive One 4 UR School and Community programs in 2010, more than 77,000 test-drives at more than 500 events have generated over $1 million in donations for high schools and organizations in Canada. Kelleher Ford has participated in Ford’s Drive One 4 UR Community/School program for six years and has made an impact in the community by raising in excess of $67,960 to support organizations such as Heart and Stroke Foundation, Funds for Furry Friends, Brandon Search and Rescue, and more. A lot can happen in an hour. The women that gathered on Tuesday evening for the first meeting of the year for 100 Women who Care proved that. As a result of a one hour meeting and three compelling presentations, Westman Aphasia Inc. received a much needed $2550 donation (more members joined following the cheque presentation). 100 Women who Care began in Brandon just last year and is administered by the Brandon Area Community Foundation (BACF). The goal of the program is to enrol 100 members who meet four times a year for one hour to raise money for a community charity. At the meetings, short presentations are made by members on behalf of the charitable organization that they have chosen. Following the presentations, members vote on the organization that they would like the donation to go to. Each member pays an annual $100 commitment fee that supports the Women’s Endowment Fund held with the BACF. Plus, members pledge to donate $50 at each of the four meetings that goes to the selected charitable organization. It is an easy and effective way to make a big difference in our community. Vancouver Police Department Media Release Vancouver – Forty-six-year-old Joseph Davis is a four-time federal offender who has served a four-year sentence for sexual assault, and is serving a long-term supervision order. Davis is now wanted Canada-wide for violating that order and is currently unlawful at large. In December 2007, Joseph Davis sexually assaulted a real estate agent in Winnipeg, Manitoba, after luring her to his home. In 2001, he was convicted of assault causing bodily harm and forcible confinement of a female sex trade worker he invited to his residence. Davis was staying at a halfway house in Vancouver and has failed to report as required. It is believed that he has left the Lower Mainland and is heading eastbound toward Manitoba. He could be driving a 2000 grey, four-door Mercedes C230 with BC plate DE5 64E. Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Joseph Davis is asked to call 9-1-1 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Brandon Police Service Media Release On Thursday at 8:19 PM, Police conducted a traffic stop on Provincial Highway #10. A search of the driver and vehicle resulted in the recovery 200 grams of Methamphetamine, $300 cash and an open box of 7mm bullets and a magazine containing three 7mm bullets. A 31-year-old man from Brandon was arrested for Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of Proceeds of Crime and Unsafe Storage of Ammunition. The man was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center to appear in Court on Friday.
