CPRSS students win hardware at 2024 Skills Canada National Competition

The 2024 Skills Canada National Competition was held in Québec City last week with more than 500 students and apprentices from across the country competing for the title of national champion in over 40 Skill Areas at the Centre de foires d’ExpoCité. The complete list of medalists is available on the Skills/Compétences Canada Website. Our school brought home hardware in five different competitions this year and is easily the highest-awarded high school in Canada! Their success is a testament to the importance of vocational education in our overall academic curriculum. As a high school, we should be proud of our Vocational departments. Please join us in recognizing the following CPRSS students as Medal Recipients in the 2024 Skills Canada National Competition: • Mathew Kuszak received a Silver Medal for Autobody Repair • Sloane Williams received a Silver Medal in Mechanical Engineering CAD • Manu Tarubal received a Gold Medal in Architectural Technology and Design • Oliver Sawatsky received a Gold Medal in Automobile Technology • Alicia Decosse received a Silver Medal in Baking Skills Canada annually recognizes the top-performing students in each Province. Assault by Choking

On June 2nd at 05:58 am Police received a call from a resident in the 900 block of Breacrest. A 33-year-old male reported being awoken to someone trying to get into his apartment. He confronted the male and told him to leave but the male lunged at him and choked him. A brief struggle ensued, and the suspect took off. Police were able to identify the accused and find him in another apartment. A 25-year-old male was arrested for assault. It turns out he thought he was going into his own apartment earlier. He will appear in court on August 15th, 2024.

The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating this person who is: “WANTED BY POLICE”: Trenton BENN FOR Incest & Sexual Assault On October 23, 2023, Trenton BENN was arrested and charged for Incest and Sexual Assault that occurred at a Brandon residence. BENN has failed to attend court to answer to these charges. On May 13, 2024, a female entered a business located in the 900 block of 8th Street North. Police arrest teens allegedly armed with machete, knife

On May 29th at 5:41 pm Police received a call that multiple people were chasing someone with a Machete in the area of Buttercup Bay.  Police located four males in the area matching the description. One male was later determined not to be involved. The victim being chased was also located but refused to cooperate with police. A search of the three males resulted in police locating a machete, a knife and bear spray. A 16-year-old male, A 17-year-old male and a 15-year-old male were all charged for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. They were released to their guardians will all appear in court on August 7th, 2024.

Loss Prevention employee kicked in the groin

On the afternoon of 2024-05-27, police attended to a business at the Corral Centre after receiving a report of a shoplifter.  The Loss Prevention employee had attempted to conduct an arrest of a 26-year-old female shoplifter, whereby the individual proceeded to physically assault the employee by kicking him in the groin.  No medical attention was required.  A check of police records for the accused revealed an outstanding warrant of arrest for failing to attend court on 6 pending charges which includes Assault with a Weapon.  The individual has been lodged at BPS and will appear in court for the warrant and new charges.
