Brandon's Ryan White has signed a PTO to attend camp with the Vancouver Canucks. Last season, the former Calgary Hitmen, split time between the NHL's Arizona Coyotes and Minnesota Wild. Layne Toder, a 170 lb defenseman, has signed with the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL. Last season the native of Elkhorn, MB was a member of the Portage Terriers where he scored 28 points in 44 games. Rugged forward Darian Dziurzynski, who spent time with the Wheat Kings back in 2011/12, signed a 1-year contract with Zvolen (Slovakia, Extraliga). Last season Darian was a member of the Manchester Storm, of the EIHL, where he had a productive year scoring 29 goals in 50 regular season games. Corbin Boes has been invited to camp with the NHL's Detroit Red Wings. Boes spent 3 seasons between the pipes with the Wheat Kings picking up 46 regular season wins in the process. The North Central Hockey League may be expanding by one team for the 17/18 season. The Shoal Lake Eagles were tentatively accepted into the league at the league's annual meeting held back in April. Wheat Kings Unveil New Home Jerseys for 2017-18

Brandon, MB. – For the first time in eight years, the Western Hockey League’s Brandon Wheat Kings will feature new look home white jerseys for the 2017-18 campaign.  The new Reebok CCM jerseys were modelled at Thursday afternoon’s media reception at the Canad Inns by veteran center Tanner Kaspick. The white jerseys will be worn on the road for the first half of the season, before becoming the home jerseys after Christmas. However, the Wheat Kings have announced plans to debut the jerseys during their Home Opener on September 22nd against the visiting Regina Pats. The new white jersey features black on the shoulders and hemline and reversing the colours. The design was loosely based on the Wheat Kings’ 2010 Memorial Cup jersey and will fit in nicely with the ’49 Vintage style thirds as well. As with the jerseys introduced in 2009, they will be anatomically designed to work in unison with protective equipment and consists of advanced materials which will continue to provide better ventilation for the players. Tickets to that game as well as Brandon’s two pre-season games will go on sale at 10am Tuesday, September 5th at the Keystone Centre box office, online at keystonecentre.com or by calling (204) 726-3555.
