Brandon Senior Mens Basketball League still going strong after 40 years

The Brandon Senior Men's Basketball League is still going strong after running in the city for the last 40 years. Kevin Phillip, who is also an Assistant Coach with the Brandon University men's basketball team, has been running the league for the past 10 seasons. Kevin tells bdnmb.ca that the calibre of participants ranges from players with no formal basketball experience to ex-CIS all stars. This year there are 5 teams hitting the hardwood in hopes getting their name on the trophy and the bragging rights that go with it. Games are played every Sunday from November to March at the ACC Gymnasium. League expansion is something that Phillips said he has looked into but the rising costs of running a league prevents him of doing so at this time. Those looking at getting involved in the league can check out their Facebook page here.
