Hemmings inducted into Canada West Hall of Fame

In a coaching career at Brandon University that spanned parts of four decades, Jerry Hemmings led the Bobcats men's basketball program to unprecedented success and created a legacy of excellence. The native of Mount Airy, North Carolina served nearly three decades at the helm of the Bobcats, winning four national titles to go along with 19 conference championships, while amassing 13 final four appearances. He had 734 career victories, while being named Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Coach of the Year eight times (1980, 1982, 1983, 1988, 1992, 1999, 2000, and 2001) and winning the Canadian Interuniversity Athletic Union's (CIAU) Coach of the Year award in 1980. Live pro wrestling returns to Brandon

Brandon get ready for a night of hard-hitting wrestling action as the CWE returns to Houstons on Wednesday, November 27th. WCW/WWE/Lucha Libre Cruiserweight Legend “The Juice” Juventud Guerrera, IMPACT! wrestling star “The Zombie Princess” Jimmy Jacobs, ROH Star “Horror King” Vinny Marseglia, “Wildhorse” TK O’Ryan, and Brian Johnson are among the superstars scheduled to appear. Whisky Jacks announce three new player signings for 2020

Preparations for the 2020 season continue for the Wheat City Whisky Jacks as they have have announced three new player signings for 2020. Joining the team for their second season of operation in the Expedition League will be right-handed pitcher Landon Rawson, infielder Noah Dehne, and catcher Reed Roberts. Earlier in the summer the team hired a new head coach in Walker Bullington. For the 2020 baseball season, the organization is also looking for a number student interns (must be in post-secondary college or university) to fill various positions with the club including Ticketing, Sales & Marketing, Audio-Video Operations, Stadium Operations, Baseball Operations, and Merchandising. Huge crowd packs the Manitoba Room for Saturday night’s Fight for the Troops

Fight for the Troops took place Saturday evening in front of a very large and boisterous crowd inside the Keystone Centre's Manitoba Room. There was a total of eight fights contested including two boxing matches and six professional mixed martial arts bouts. Darren “Hollywood” Smith Jr. upset Brandon's Curtis Demarce via TKO strikes in the evening's main event. Rodman Batson and Ian White, of Brandon, each won their respective boxing and MMA match-ups. At the conclusion of the event Demarce thanked fans for coming out and said that he would like to make this a yearly event.

The stage is set for Saturday’s Fight for the Troops

The Keystone Centre’s Manitoba Room remains a hub of activity as organizers are busy at work putting together the final touches on this Saturdays Fight for The Troops event. In conversation with bdnmb.ca earlier this afternoon, organizers say that ticket sales remain very brisk for the event which includes both boxing and MMA matches. The main event features Brandon’s own Curtis “The Demon” Demarce as he battles Darren “Hollywood” Smith Jr. Food and beverage service will be available. The official weigh-ins take place this Friday at noon at The Great Western Roadhouse. When: Saturday, November, 9th, 2019 Where: Manitoba Room in the Keystone Centre Time: DOORS OPEN 6:30 p.m. Prelims 7:30 p.m.. Main Card 9 p.m. Card is subject to change.
