Crash Sends Semi Careening onto Train Tracks

On Monday afternoon, emergency crews responded to the train crossing near Richmond Ave East and Highway 110 for a crash involving a car and a semi.

A B-train semi and a sports car collided in the intersection, which sent both vehicles careening east towards the train tracks. The semi jackknifed and came to a stop on the train tracks, which prompted the closure of that rail line to all train traffic.

Large amounts of fuel was leaking from the semi, and there were unconfirmed reports that the sports car was on fire upon arrival of emergency crews. Extensive damage was observed on the front and left side of the sports car, while the semi appeared to have damage to it’s front and right side.

Brandon Fire and Emergency Services, Brandon Police Service and CP Police all responded to the scene.
