The bargaining committee representing roughly 2200 workers at Safeway stores across Manitoba reached a tentative agreement on March 17, 2018, with Sobeys West Inc.

“This round of bargaining was unlike any other I’ve ever had in my years here at Local 832,” said Jeff Traeger. “I want to give thanks to our membership for giving us our 98% strike mandate which helped to move the company off of many of their major concessions, and the bargaining committee who did an amazing job of holding the line for the 2,200 Safeway workers in Manitoba.”

Details of the tentative agreement will be presented to the members at meetings across the province, next  Sunday, March 25, 2018, where the bargaining committee will be recommending that the membership accept the tentative agreement reached with the company.

The contract expires tonight at midnight, March 17, 2018, but will continue in force and effect until the ratification vote.
