Male suspect faces Drug Trafficking/Weapons Possession changes, following downtown traffic stop

At 3:34 a.m. today, a 34-year-old male from Brandon was the subject of a traffic stop in the downtown area. When police approached the vehicle, the male was attempting to conceal a conducted energy weapon (commonly referred to by the brand name TASER). He was removed from the vehicle and searched incidental to arrest. As a result officers recovered a second conducted energy weapon, cash, a substantial amount of crystal methamphetamine packaged in smaller amounts for resale, and a small amount of fentanyl.  The suspect was lodged in cells at BPS and will appear before a Justice today for a remand hearing. He is charged with two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order, possession of proceeds of crime, and one count of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
