Man arrested after allegedly assaulting victim with machete

During the evening on Thursday June 20th, officers responded to a complaint from a woman that man was at her residence and he was on a court ordered condition to stay away from her. At that residence, officers located another male who resided at the home who stated the male was there and attempted to break in and a fight between the two had followed. Evidence at the scene indicated someone had been injured and investigators located a man at Brandon Regional Health Center with severe cuts to one hand. He indicated the other man and two unknown assailants had attacked him at a residence on 9th St and the injuries to his hand were caused by a machete during that attack. The Major Crimes Section continued the investigation on Friday and two search warrants were executed on residences. As a result, a 33 year old man from Brandon, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon and Breach of a Recognizance order. He will appear in court on Saturday.
