Pair charged with Possession of Meth for Trafficking after Brandon traffic stop

Just before midnight Saturday, police initiated a traffic stop in the east end of Brandon as the license plates displayed on the vehicle were inactive. The officer approached the vehicle after it pulled over, at which time the operator sped away from the traffic stop. Police followed the vehicle in the east end of Brandon for approximately five blocks during which time the suspect vehicle never exceeded speeds of 80 kmh. The suspect vehicle then pulled over and the female driver fled on foot, while the male passenger was apprehended outside the vehicle. The female was tracked by an on duty canine unit and located. Located during the arrest and vehicle search was a mixture of various controlled substances including 9 ounces of crystal meth as well as Oxycodone, Tylenol 3, and Gabapentin. A 24 year old Brandon female is facing charges of flight from police, obstruction of a police officer, and possession of controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking. At 29 year old male of no fixed address is facing charges of possession of controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking. Both were lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre and will be remanded this morning.
