At 1:19AM Sunday, February 23rd, police members were attending an unrelated call in the 1700 block of Middleton Avenue when a suspicious vehicle with two occupants and one headlight was noted by police. Upon activating the emergency vehicle lights, the vehicle sped up and continued east on Middleton Avenue reaching speeds of 80km/hour. Due to dry road conditions and no traffic the vehicle was followed south down 1st Street where it reached 100km/hour. The deployment of a stop stick was successful in deflating a front tire. The vehicle reached a stop at 1st Street and Brock Avenue where the occupants ran from the vehicle. (Total pursuit time was 4.5 minutes.)

A perimeter was set, and one suspect was taken into custody immediately. K9 Zeus tracked the area leading to the other suspect hiding in the rafters of a locked shed. The accused came out on his own and admitted to being the driver of the vehicle. Spent shotgun shells were within the vehicle and the driver admitted to throwing a shotgun out of the car while being pursued.
