The Detroit Red Wings used the 9th pick, in the first round, to select Brandon Wheat King’s forward Nate Danielson in today’s NHL draft. Danielson registered a career-high 33 goals and 78 points in 68 games last season, his third in the WHL. The 2004-born forward from Red Deer has been described as “a versatile player who is effective at both ends of the rink”. While he was the only Wheat King drafted today, goaltender Carson Bjarnason is expected to be selected tomorrow when rounds 2-7 take place.
