Sioux Valley Dakota Nation Elects New Leadership

Sioux Valley Dakota Nation has elected a new Chief and Council following the most recent election/

Former Chief Jennifer Bone has been returned to office, defeating longtime community leader Vincent “Takan” Tacan by a vote of 371 to 212. Bone previously served as Chief from 2018 to 2023 and will now resume leadership of the self-governing Dakota Nation west of Brandon.

Alongside the Chief’s race, community members selected five Councillors from a field of 14 candidates. The successful candidates were Randall Wasicuna, Melissa Hotain, Bill McKay, Darryl Hapa, and Jon Bell.
