Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release
On Sunday morning at approximately 3:50 A.M., a homeowner from a North Hill residence reported that her husband just caught a male who had broken into their garage. Police attended and the suspect kicked one of the Officers as he was being taken into custody. The Police Officer was not injured. Continued investigation determined that the suspect had actually broken into the garage earlier in the night stealing two bicycles, a lap top computer and a bar fridge. The suspect hid some items nearby while returning others to his residence. Once at his residence, the suspect realized that he lost his keys and could not gain entrance to his apartment building. The suspect used a rock to smash the front glass door of the complex but still did not have keys to access his apartment. The suspect then returned to the garage that he broke into earlier in search of his lost keys and at this time was apprehended by the homeowner. The suspect was intoxicated and in breach of two conditions of an Undertaking. The 20 year old male from Brandon was arrested for Break, Enter and Theft, Fail to comply with Undertaking X2, Mischief to Property Under $5000 and Assault Peace Officer. The suspect was lodged at the Police Service and will be released when sober with a Court date in September.
