Theft of Vehicle, Suspect Apprehended by Citizens

At 10:57 AM Friday morning, it was reported that a pick-up truck had just been stolen from outside of an Evergreen Blvd residence.  Approximately 10 minutes later, the truck was seen by Police in the area of 34^th St & Victoria Ave.. A traffic stop was attempted; however, the truck accelerated away and was being driven in a dangerous manner.  For public safety, Police did not purse.  Approximately 15 minutes after that, a family member of the truck’s owner reported seeing the truck southbound on 18^th St, and shortly thereafter reported that the driver had abandoned the truck and fled on foot.  With the help of  a bystander, the family member made a citizen’s arrest, and the suspect was turned over to Police, who arrived on scene 2 minutes later.  A 39 year-old male was arrested for theft of motor vehicle, dangerous operation, and flight from police.  He was held in custody and will appear before the court today.
