Traffic stop nets machete, cattle prod

Shortly before 4:00 pm, police conducted a traffic stop in the 400 block of Kirkaldy Ave. Police learned that one of the passengers was in possession of a machete, which lead to subsequent search of the vehicle revealing a cattle prod, and .22 caliber rifle rounds. Police also discovered property, which was reported as stolen. A 35-year-old male was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre. He will appear today on charges of Possess Weapon Dangerous, Possess Prohibited Weapon, Possess Property Obtained by Crime, and Possess Weapon Contrary to Weapon Prohibition Order.
