Two Arrested After Stolen SUV Recovered, Impaired Driver Arrested After Hit-and-Run

On 2025-08-15, police received a report of the theft of a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe from the 1400 block of 6^th Street.  On the same date, police located the vehicle while being operated by a 35-year-old male, whereby he was arrested and charged for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.  Further investigation has revealed that this male received the vehicle and keys from a 32-year-old male associate who had previously gained access to the vehicle owner’s residence and stole the keys.  On 2025-08-16 at 2051 hrs,  police located and arrested the second suspect in the 1400 block of 7^th Street.  The individual has been lodged to appear in court on 2025-08-17.

mpaired Operation Cause Bodily Harm/Failure to Remain at the Scene of an Accident

On 2025-08-17 at 0110 hrs, police received a report from a homeowner on Canada Crescent regarding a pedestrian that was struck by an SUV which then fled the scene.  The operator of the vehicle was known to the witness and the 24-year-old male pedestrian was transported to hospital by ambulance for non-life threatening injuries.  Police located the 22-year-old male suspect at his residence and was determined to be impaired by alcohol.  The individual was subsequently conveyed to BPS were breath samples confirmed him to have a blood alcohol concentration in excess of the legal limit.  The accused has been released with conditions to appear in court on 2025-10-20.
