On April 22nd just after noon, Police were called to a business in the 4800 block of Victoria Avenue East after three men were reported on the property, one of whom was believed to be a suspect in an earlier break and enter. Two of the men left the scene in a taxi but were quickly stopped by police and identified, while the third man was said to have left on foot westbound. At approximately 12:36 p.m., officers spotted the suspect who then headed into a tree-lined area near the river, prompting police to establish a perimeter and deploy the K9 unit. Following an extensive search in semi-flooded conditions, the 48-year-old suspect was located but refused to surrender; he was ultimately apprehended, with the suspect, officer, and police dog all becoming soaked during the arrest. A stolen toolbox was recovered in the area and linked to both the suspect and the earlier break and enter. The man was taken to hospital for medical clearance. He was later arrested and held in custody to appear in court on the morning of April 23rd, 2026.
