A Brandon youth has been arrested after he threatened his parents with a loaded .22 calibre rifle in an incident in Brandon on Saturday evening. Police say they responded to a report of an assault with a weapon, in the south end of Brandon, where it was also determined that the youth had also used the rifle in an attempt to choke his parents during the assault. He was charged with a variety of offenses including Point a Firearm x 2, Utter Threats, Assault with a Weapon x 2, Breach of Court Order, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Overcoming Resistance to commit an indictable offence x 2. The suspect was detained overnight at the Brandon Correctional Centre with a remand hearing set for the following morning.
