Local DJ hosting virtual dance party

With clubs and bars currently closed in the city, a local DJ (DJ Red) has decided to take his unique skill set online so you can dance the night away from the comfort of your own home. He will be hosting a Virtual Dance Party this evening from 9pm to 12am on Twitch. The party's theme is a "Fancy Pants Dance" where you are encouraged to "dress to impress". This will be the second time DJ Red has organized such an event, having hosted a very successful "Social Dis-Dance" pandemic party a week ago. DJ Red (Jared Weir) has been rocking parties in and around Brandon and the Westman area for more than 18 years. About tonight's formal themed virtual house party, DJ Red told bdnmb.ca " It'll be a fun way to dress up and turn up to a mixed bag of party bangers. A great excuse to dust off your formal wear and do some social distance dancing." Login via twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/justdjred.  There will also be a chat element where people can talk, post pics. etc

Dauphin’s Countryfest postpones 2020 festival due to COVID-19 Pandemic

It’s with heavy hearts that Dauphin’s Countryfest announces the postponement of the 2020 festival due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “Dauphin's Countryfest has been part of Manitoba’s summer celebrations for over 30 years. Our festival is a pillar in our community providing both social and economic benefits, such as funds raised for volunteer organizations to jobs created through goods and services needed to operate the festival. The Board of Directors have taken all of this into consideration as we map out a plan of action during this unprecedented situation presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. In consultation with our municipal and provincial leaders, and with the welfare of our festival patrons, volunteers and community in mind, the Board of Directors have made the decision to postpone the July 2 to 5, 2020 festival until June 24 to 27, 2021,” said Ann Ransom, President. “This has been a really difficult week and we’re devastated to share this news with you. This is my 30th year with Dauphin’s Countryfest so it’s hard to imagine a summer without the event,” said Rob Waloschuk, General Manager. “We thank everyone for their understanding and patience as our team works through all of the details surrounding the rescheduling of our festival. We look forward to celebrating with you in 2021.” Organizers will be reaching out to each and every ticket purchaser in the coming weeks with options and details regarding the rescheduling of the festival and the transfer/refund process.
