Newsies is the story of a band of underdogs who took on the most powerful names in New York in a fight for what's right. The poor and orphaned teenagers, selling newspapers for a penny a paper, are pushed trhe limit when newspaper moguls Hearst and Pulitzer try to take away more of their meager profits. Jack Kelly becomes the leader who rallies the newsies from across the city to take a stand and strike against the most powerful publishers in the country. Their cause becomes even bigger than any of the newsiesimagined when they realize they're fighting for all the children working in unfair and unsafe conditions across the nation. Newsies The Musical was the winner of the 2012 Tony Awards for Best Score and Best Choreography. Director Lisa Vasconcelos is excited to debut Newsies in western Manitoba. 'The show is our family's all-time favourite. We know audiences will love it the same way we do.' The Broadway run was only expected to play 101 performances, but audiences never abated so the show ended up running a total of 1005 performances. Newsies received 23 major theatrical nominations, including 8 Tony Award nominations. Vincent Massey presents Disney’s High School Musical

Numerous Vincent Massey Vikings will temporarily trade their purple in for red as they transform into the East High Wildcats in Disney's High School Musical this November. Disney's High School Musical is a story that follows two teenagers, Gabriella, a brainiac, and Troy, a jock, who break free from the status quo and audition for the school musical together . When the reigning musical leads, Sharpay and Ryan Evans, attempt to sabotage Gabriella and Troy's chances at a callback, the entire school bands together to help their friends shine onstage. The production is being directed and produced by Nancy Pitcairn and Brittany MacDonald, choreographed by Linda Kearns (Dance Images), costumes are being designed by Karen Rogowsky, the Vocal Director is Laura Jonassen, and Kelsey Demond leads the pit band. Disney's High School Musical hits the stage November 29th - December 1st. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and students, and $10 for children. CP Holiday Train rolling through Brandon with Terri Clark, Kelly Prescott & Sierra Noble

The CP Holiday Train program launched in 1999 and has since raised more than C$14.5 million and gathered 4.3 million pounds of food for communities along CP's routes in Canada and the United States. Beginning in Montreal on November 25 and 27 respectively, two trains will make the festive journey, travelling through both the U.S. and Canada to bring holiday cheer to 164 communities along CP's network. Each event is free, with CP encouraging attendees to open their cupboards and wallets to help address hunger needs in their communities. Local food banks will be accepting donations at each stop to ensure those less fortunate have enough healthy food this holiday season. "On behalf of the 13,000-strong family here at CP, it is my great pleasure to kick-off the 20th tour of the CP Holiday Train," said Keith Creel, CP's President and Chief Executive Officer. "It is a privilege for CP to be able to run a program like this and connect with so many communities across our network. I want to personally thank each individual who has made a donation over the past 20 years – your collective efforts have made the Holiday Train a huge success for two decades." The Canadian Train will depart Montreal on November 27. Kelly Prescott will join three time Juno award-winner Terri Clark and Sierra Noble to spread holiday cheer through Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan to Calgary, Alta. Sam Roberts Band will then carry on through Alberta and British Columbia to the final show of the 2018 CP Holiday Train tour in Port Coquitlam on Dec. 18. The Brandon date has been scheduled for Tuesday, December the 4th, with a 6:45 PM arrival time.  The event time is then set for 7:00 PM - 7:30 PM.  The official Facebook event page can be found here.

Choclair and Maestro Fresh Wes to open for Classified

JUNO Award winning, multi-platinum Canadian hip-hop artist and producer, CLASSIFIED will be performing at The 40 on Thursday, October 25.  He will be joined by Choclair and Maestro Fresh Wes on the 27 date Canadian tour which kicks off on October 11th in Kingston, ON and goes west across Canada and back, and finishes up in Montreal, QC on November 17th. Wesley “Maestro Fresh Wes” Williams is a Canadian rapper, record producer, and actor best known for his Top 40 hit “Let Your Backbone Slide”.  Choclair is an international music icon who has won 4 Juno Awards and 5 Much Music Video Awards.   The Canadian rapper's most notable singles include “Let’s Ride”, “Rubbin’”, “Skyline” and “Made”. Grim Acres Halloween Haunt 2018: Face Your Fears

In 2015, you barely survived "The Awakening ". In 2016, you were terrified by "Beyond Darkness". 2017 was the year that awakened your senses and took you beyond madness. Now, in 2018 will you be able to truly Face Your Fears? 2018 will feature ALL NEW theme rooms and props!  The event is brought to you by Grim Acres Scare Away Cancer, with promotional considerations provided by Westman Communications Group.  Admission is free and donations to the Canadian Cancer Society will gladly be accepted at the door.  This years edition will feature "The Awakening" a 1400 sq ft, indoor three floor haunt, "Beyond Darkness" a 3000 sq foot indoor haunt, featuring several theme rooms, and "Carnevil", a 2800 sq ft indoor kid friendly kids carnival.  On Friday, Oct 26th, Kickin Axe Throwing Ltd will be on site for some Axe throwing fun for those over the age of 18.  Additional attractions include music, games, outdoor laser tag, a bouncy castle, outdoor yard features, props, a concession shack, two warming areas, and more. There will also be dance performance nightly, brought to you from the amazing students at Brandon School of Dance, on the Grim Acres Home Depot outdoor stage. Event dates: Oct 25-28th, 6-11pm. (No scare hour from 6-7pm).
