Suspect fills bags full of merchandise, leaves store without paying

On March 12, 2023, police received a report of a theft from a business in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue.  A male suspect filled two bags full of merchandise and left the store without paying for the items.  Police located the 31-year-old male in the area and arrested him for Theft under $5,000.  He was later released on an Appearance Notice and he is scheduled to appear in court in May.

City of Brandon Water Distribution Planned Maintenance

The City of Brandon’s Underground Utilities Section is advising that a planned maintenance project will take place at the 34th Street booster station on March 14 to 15, 2023. The routine maintenance could cause portions of the City’s water distribution system to experience discolored water or have a slight loss of water pressure. If discoloured water is drawn while City crews are completing maintenance, residents are encouraged to run their taps until the water becomes clear. If discoloured water continues to be drawn from the tap more than a few hours after flushing, please contact the City of Brandon Underground Utilities Section during business hours at 204-729-2137. The City of Brandon thanks the public for their cooperation during this important maintenance project of the water distribution system.

Suspect dines and dashes, takes employee’s cell phone with him

On March 11, 2023, at approximately 2:30 pm, police responded to a report of a male suspect who attended to a restaurant in the 1200 block of 18th street, and left without paying for his meal. The male also stole a cell phone from one of the employees. Police were able to locate and arrest the 33-year-old male by using the find my phone app on the stolen phone. He was later released and will appear in court on a later date on charges of Theft Under $5000 and Fraudulently Obtaining Food.

"CRIME STOPPERS WANTED” for: March 10th, 2023 The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating this person who is: “WANTED BY POLICE”: Allen CONSTANT (16 years old) FOR Possess a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. On May 28th, 2022, Allen CONSTANT was involved in a disturbance inside a Brandon business when he expelled the contents of a can of bear spray. CONSTANT was subsequently arrested and charged for Possess a Weapon and Cause a Disturbance. CONSTANT has failed to attend court to deal with the charges, therefore a warrant has been issued for Allen CONSTANT as his whereabouts are unknown at this time. ***************** CRIME OF THE WEEK for March 10th, 2023 The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in solving a; Theft Under $5000  On March 5th, 2023, in the evening hours a male entered a vehicle in the 100 block of Victoria Avenue, and stole a debit card. The male then proceeded to use the debit card at a Brandon business. Habitat Homeownership Program

Habitat for Humanity Brandon Chapter is seeking families for their upcoming builds!  The Chapter has committed to building 8 homes in 2 years!  This is a fantastic opportunity to help families enter into affordable homeownership.  They began this by building 4 homes in 2022 and will see 4 families purchase their new homes and enter affordable homeownership by this summer! They are excited to be building 4 more homes for our 2023 season, and they are looking for qualified families for these homes!
