Source: BPS News Release On August 9, 2022, police received a report of an assault that occurred in the area of the 1800 block of McTavish Ave on August 8 in the evening.  Investigation revealed that two female youth, a 17-year-old and a 16-year-old, assaulted a third female youth and broke her cell phone.  The victim received injuries that did not require medical attention. Police located and arrested the two suspects on August 10, 2022.  They were both released to a parent and will appear in court on October 4, 2022 on charges of Assault and Mischief to Property Under $5000.

Security footage shows suspect tossing baggies of meth into homeowners yard

Source: BPS News On July 24, 2022, police responded to a report of a homeowner locating to finding two small baggies in their yard.  Security footage revealed a male running down the back lane on July 23, 2022, throwing the items into the yard, followed by a police cruiser.  Investigation revealed that the substance in the baggies was over 37 grams of meth.  Police knew the identity of the male who threw it. On August 9, 2022, police located and arrested the 48-year-old male.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on a charge of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Meth.

Opening of Willowdale Crescent, New Stop Control Configuration

(City of Brandon PSA) The City of Brandon has set the reopening date of Thursday August 11, 2022 for Willowdale Crescent west of 26th Street, as a part of the completion of Phase 2 for Contract A-1 from 2021. This reopening includes the reassignment of the minor street in the 3-way stop located at Willowdale Crescent and Silver Birch Drive. Previously, the through street was the east leg of Willowdale Crescent and the south leg of Silver Birch Drive. Reconstruction of Willowdale Crescent has included the reconfiguration of the through road to be Willowdale Crescent. As a result of this redesign, some changes have been made: The stop control has been removed for eastbound Willowdale Drive at Silver Birch Drive; The stop control is now in effect for northbound Silver Birch Drive for left turning traffic; A merge lane has been added for northbound Silver Birch Drive traffic turning right onto eastbound Willowdale Crescent; A dedicated left turn lane for westbound Willowdale Crescent traffic wanting to turn south on Silver Birch has also been included. Drinking in Public Leads to Multiple Criminal Charges

Source: BPS News Release At about 11:40 AM Saturday morning, it was reported that a male subject was acting bizarrely in and around the 700 block Rosser Ave.  When located in the area, the 21 year-old was drinking an alcoholic beverage so was detained under the LGCCA.  He was subsequently found to be in breach of multiple conditions of two separate Probation Orders.  Search incident to arrest revealed a machete in his backpack.  He disclosed taking an unknown quantity of unknown pills, so was released on appropriate police imposed conditions as he was receiving medical assessment and treatment.  He is to appear in Court on October 3rd, facing one count of possessing a weapon and six counts of failing to comply with a Probation Order.

Man accused of going on shopping spree with stolen credit card

Source: BPS News Release On July 17, 2022, police responded to a report of the theft of a wallet containing credit cards from a vehicle parked in the 1300 block of College Ave.  The suspect made several purchases on a credit card at local businesses before the owner had an opportunity to cancel them.  Security footage from a business assisted police in identifying the 38-year-old male suspect. On August 5, 2022 shortly before 1:00 am, police located and arrested the suspect as he was observed walking near the area of the 100 block of Victoria Ave. He was later released to appear in court on October 20, 2022 on charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Fraud Use Credit Card.
