Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At 4:14am, police responded to an alarm at a business in the 2000’ block of Lyndale Drive.  Upon arrival police observed a truck backed inside the store with the front door/glass completely out.  The truck exited and was dragging the ATM behind it which broke free as the vehicle turned south.  The suspect vehicle continued south out of town and attempted to make a right turn at Ferguson Road where it went into the south ditch and became stuck in a creek bank.  A 27 year old male suspect was arrested at the vehicle while a second suspect fled on foot.  The second suspect, a 34 year old male, was arrested just before 8:00am in the area.  It was determined the suspects had stolen the vehicle involved from a business in the 4800’ block of Victoria Ave East sometime overnight.  It is believed these two individuals are responsible for numerous crimes throughout southwestern Manitoba and the Brandon Police Service Major Crime Unit will be working with other law enforcement agencies as the investigation continues.

Suspect charged after chasing man with machete

Source: BPS News Release Just before 6:00 PM Friday, members responded to a report of a male chasing another male, while armed with a machete, in the 800 block Lorne Avenue. The suspect was located at the corner of 8th Street and Lorne Ave., still carrying the machete, and apprehended without incident.  The 34 year-old accused was arrested for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, processed, and released from custody on appropriate police imposed conditions.  He is to appear in court on August 4th to answer to the charge.

The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating this person who is: “WANTED BY POLICE” Addison Jay LAROQUE (23 yrs) FOR Possession of a Stolen Vehicle On April 28th, 2022, police responded to a complaint of a Ford F150 being stolen from a residence in Brandon. It was recovered by police the following day and a forensic examination of the vehicle was completed. This led police to the suspect, Addison LAROQUE. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $2000.00 cash for information that leads to the solution of a crime. ****************************************************************** CRIME OF THE WEEK for June 3rd, 2022 The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in solving a; Theft of Snowmobile and Trailer On May 25, 2022, at 3:43 pm, police responded to a report of a theft of snowmobile and trailer, from the 1600 block of 13th street. A witness observed the suspects drive the stolen items south of Brandon. Police recovered both the trailer and the snowmobile, just south of Brandon on Road 53 N as the suspects had unhitched the items and left them. The suspects were driving a white Ford F250. Both suspects were heavy set with beards.

City Plan Celebration to include live music, food trucks

 The City of Brandon’s Planning & Buildings Department is inviting all residents to a City Plan Celebration event on Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Princess Park*. The purpose of this event is to celebrate  community collaboration  efforts in the process of building the City Plan. This is also an opportunity for residents to get involved with the City Plan if they have not already done so. This come and go event will include family-friendly games and activities, live music by local musicians The Fraggles, and local food trucks will be offering food for purchase. Portions of 8th and 9th Street between Princess Avenue and Lorne Avenue will be closed from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Family-friendly activities will be based on key City Plan themes, which include Inclusive Neighbourhoods, Transportation, and Climate Change. In addition, local skateboarding store Recovery Skateshop will be offering skateboard lessons starting at 1:00 p.m. at the Kristopher Campbell Memorial Skate Plaza. Brandon City Plan  The Brandon City Plan is a 30-year vision for the City of Brandon, which will guide Brandon's growth and change for the next 30 years.
