On October 2nd at approximately 1:29 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1500 block of 18th Street North. A search of the vehicle yielded approximately 8.7 ounces of methamphetamine and 3.2 ounces of cocaine. At the time of arrest, the 23-year-old was found in possession of $3,250 in cash. The two males were arrested and lodged at the BPS detention cells to appear in court the morning of October 2nd, 2025. On September 26 and 27, 2025, the Brandon Police Service Organized Crime Section and the Winnipeg Police Service Counter Exploitation Unit, with support from the Manitoba Criminal Intelligence Centre – Manitoba Justice, conducted a Joint Forces Operation targeting sexual exploitation in the City of Brandon. The coordinated investigation, titled Project BLOCKADE, aimed to disrupt both street-level and online exploitation activities. Over the course of the two-day operation, 23 adult males were arrested for Obtaining Sexual Services for Consideration or Communicating in Any Place for That Purpose, contrary to Criminal Code. The arrests occurred across multiple locations, including downtown Brandon and local hotels. As part of the enforcement actions: 7 vehicles were seized under Section 242.2(3) of the Highway Traffic Act, which allows for the impoundment of motor vehicles used in prostitution-related offences. All accused individuals were released on Undertakings in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Code. This operation reflects the continued commitment of Manitoba law enforcement to proactively combat sexual exploitation and human trafficking. "Project BLOCKADE demonstrates the value of inter-agency collaboration in tackling exploitation within our communities. These crimes often operate in the shadows, and coordinated efforts like this are essential in protecting vulnerable individuals and sending a clear message that this behaviour will not be tolerated," said Staff Sergeant D. Andrew of the Brandon Police Service. Investigators continue to analyze evidence gathered during the operation. The Manitoba government is taking steps to ensure availability of cheques and other critical mail during the disruption of postal services. As of Oct. 3, critical mail will be directed to distribution centres to serve Manitoba residents. Critical mail includes cheques, court orders, educational materials, medical supplies and resources required to maintain health-care services, and other prioritized items. Assault Peace Officer / Resist Arrest / Failure to Comply Undertaking On September 29th, 2025, at approximately 7:20 p.m., police were called to a business in the 200 block of 18th Street North regarding an unwanted, highly intoxicated male who had been inside the store at that point for several hours and had fallen asleep on their couch. Upon police arrival, the 32-year-old male became aggressive, striking an officer and proceeded to resist arrest. He was taken into custody and transported to BPS detention cells. The male was held overnight to appear in court on September 30th, 2025. Failure to Comply Probation / Theft Under $5000 / Resist Arrest On September 30th at approximately 2:00 p.m., police responded to a report of a shoplifting incident at a business in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located the male suspect nearby. As police approached, the male dropped the bag he was carrying and attempted to flee on foot. He was apprehended after a foot pursuit. He had been in possession of $203 worth of stolen merchandise. Further investigation revealed the 38-year-old male was under court-ordered conditions not to attend the store. He was arrested and transported to Brandon Police Service detention cells, where he was held for court in the morning. Expired License & Unstamped Tobacco leads to Possession of Meth Charge On October 1st at 2:31 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop at 1st Street and Park Avenue. The driver, 57-year-old male, had an expired driver’s license. Police observed two packages of unstamped tobacco which led to the discovery of meth in the vehicle also. The driver was arrested and later released on an Appearance Notice with a court date of December 11th, 2025.
