Breach of the Peace On January 5th at approximately 9:51 a.m., police responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 1600 block of McTavish Avenue. A 20-year-old male family member was reported to be intoxicated by drugs and causing a disturbance. He was arrested and held in the Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells and will be released once sober. Breach of Probation / Theft Under $5000 On January 5th at 11:14 a.m. police were called to a business in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue who reported that a 38-year-old female was in the store contrary to her court order not to be and was currently concealing items in her bag. Police attended the store, located the female and arrested her for Breach of Probation as well as Theft Under $5000. She was later released via Appearance Notice with a court date of March 2nd, 2026. Breach of Probation On January 5th at approximately 2:39 p.m., police observed two males, aged 31 and 33, arguing in the 800 block of Pacific Avenue. After being given several opportunities to leave the area, the 31-year-old male—who was bound by a No Contact Order on the other male—was arrested and charged. The male was highly intoxicated and was transported to Brandon Police Service detention cells, where he will be released via Appearance Notice once sober. A court date has been set for March 16, 2026. Arrest Warrant On January 5th at approximately 4:40 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted in the 1800 block of Aagaard Avenue. A 26-year-old male in the vehicle was noted and arrested on the strength of an endorsed Warrant for Arrest for Breach of Probation. Civic Services Complex Re-Opening Soon

The City of Brandon is pleased to announce that repairs on the Civic Services Complex located at 900 Richmond Ave. E. have been officially completed, and staff are preparing to move back into the facility this week. This re-opening marks the end of a challenging period that began on Thu, Sep. 7, 2023, when an explosion caused major structural damage to the facility. During the closure, temporary accommodations were made at 382 Park Ave. E. to maintain services for residents. Starting Thu, Jan. 8, 2026, the Civic Services Complex will re-open to the public during regular business hours 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. The complex serves as a hub for city departments and operations, including Brandon Transit, Building Maintenance, Fleet Services, Risk Management, Streets & Roads, and Underground Utilities. During this transition, part of the Operations team including Streets & Roads, Underground Utilities, and Public Works Administration will be available only by phone at 204-729-2285. Neighbour Allegedly Threatens Man With Knife While Clearing Snow

Utter Threats / Possession of a Weapon On January 3rd, it was reported that while a male was clearing snow at a residence on Frederick Street, a neighbour exited their residence, threatened him with a knife, and uttered threats. A statement was obtained, and a 43-year-old male was arrested and charged accordingly. He was released on an Undertaking with a court date of March 16, 2026. Arrest Warrants In the past 24 hours, two additional warrants were executed. One warrant was executed at the request of the RCMP, with a BPS member attending Brandon Correctional Centre (BCC) to obtain a DNA blood sample from a 38-year-old male. The second involved the execution of an endorsed Warrant of Arrest on a 38-year-old male who was also Arson On January 4 at approximately 10:45 a.m., a neighbour contacted authorities to report a fire at an abandoned residence in the 1100 block of 6th Street. The fire was deemed suspicious and remains under investigation.

Traffic stop leads to Weapons charges On Friday afternoon, January 2nd, Police conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of 7th St. during which the operator of the vehicle was found to be in possession of a knife and brass knuckles. He was released on an Appearance Notice with a scheduled Court date of March 5th, to answer to the charges of Possession of a Weapon for a dangerous purpose and Carry a Concealed Weapon.  K9 track locates B&E suspect On Friday evening around 7pm Police received a report of a Break and Enter to a residence in the 1400 block of 1st St. The suspect, who was known to Police, fled prior to Police arrival, but it was discovered that he was on a 24hr curfew and a condition not to attend the City of Brandon. At approximately 11:30pm another call was received indicating that the suspect was outside a residence on Cornell Bay. The Police Service Dog Unit was deployed and with the assistance of a drone, the suspect was successfully apprehended in the 300 block of Aberdeen Ave. and found to be in possession of a small axe. The 36year-old male will appear in Court today after being charged for several offences including but not limited to, Break and Enter, Uttering Threats, Resist Arrest, and Possession of a Weapon for a dangerous purpose. Breach of Peace In the last 24 hours 1 person was held at BPS as result of a disturbance call and due to the subject’s level of intoxication. Intoxicated Persons Detention Act In the last 24 hours 1 person was held at BPS due to their level of intoxication and having no responsible person to turn them over to.

Arrest Warrants, Possession of Methamphetamine, and more

On January 1st, 2026 at approximately 7:16 AM, Police attended an address near the 000 block of Willowdale Crescent as caller reported that a male was in the residence fighting with family. Police attended and discovered the 42-year-old male causing issues was subject of an arrest warrant for the offences of Fail to Comply with Probation x 2, Fail to Comply with Undertaking and Failing to Attend Court. Further, the male subject was found to be bound by conditions of a Release Order which he breached by consuming alcohol, as a result he was also charged with Fail to Comply with Release Order x 2. The male was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Police Service to appear for Court. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime x 2 On January 1st, 2026 at approximately 7:32 AM, an employee from a business located in the 1600 block of Byng Avenue reported a work vehicle stolen from their job site. The abandoned vehicle was located so the K-9 unit was deployed which resulted in a track from the stolen work vehicle to a nearby residence. An 18-year-old female was arrested for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime x 2 and was lodged at the Brandon Police Service to appear for Court. Arrest Warrant – Fail to Comply with Probation/Fail to Attend Court  On January 1st, 2026 at approximately 1:26 PM, Police were patrolling in the area of the 800 block of Princess Avenue when a female known to Police was observed in the area. The female was subject of an arrest warrant for the offences of Fail to Comply with Probation x 2 and Fail to Attend Court. The 49-year-old female was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Police Service to appear for Court. Arrest Warrant – Fail to Comply with Probation Possession of Methamphetamine, Possess Weapon Dangerous, Carry Concealed Weapon, Obstruct Police Officer On January 1st, 2026 at approximately 1:36 PM, Police observed a male in the 000 block of 10th street who was subject of an arrest warrant for the offences of Fail to Comply with Probation. The male was arrested on the strength of the warrant, where a search incidental to arrest yielded a small amount of crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine, as well as a home-made weapon. As a result, the male was also charged with Fail to Comply with Release Order x 2, Possession of Methamphetamine, Carry Concealed Weapon, Possess Weapon Dangerous and Obstruct Police Officer. The 45-year-old was lodged at the Brandon Police Service to appear for Court in the morning of January 2nd. The Protective Detention and Care of Intoxicated Persons Act On January 1st, 2026 at approximately 6:30 PM, a business located in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue called to report an intoxicated male who kept falling over and laying in the roadway. A 38-year-old male was located and arrested due to his intoxicated state and his inability to care for himself, where he was lodged at the Brandon Police Service to be released once sober.
