On January 1st, 2026 at approximately 7:16 AM, Police attended an address near the 000 block of Willowdale Crescent as caller reported that a male was in the residence fighting with family. Police attended and discovered the 42-year-old male causing issues was subject of an arrest warrant for the offences of Fail to Comply with Probation x 2, Fail to Comply with Undertaking and Failing to Attend Court. Further, the male subject was found to be bound by conditions of a Release Order which he breached by consuming alcohol, as a result he was also charged with Fail to Comply with Release Order x 2. The male was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Police Service to appear for Court. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime x 2 On January 1st, 2026 at approximately 7:32 AM, an employee from a business located in the 1600 block of Byng Avenue reported a work vehicle stolen from their job site. The abandoned vehicle was located so the K-9 unit was deployed which resulted in a track from the stolen work vehicle to a nearby residence. An 18-year-old female was arrested for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime x 2 and was lodged at the Brandon Police Service to appear for Court. Arrest Warrant – Fail to Comply with Probation/Fail to Attend Court  On January 1st, 2026 at approximately 1:26 PM, Police were patrolling in the area of the 800 block of Princess Avenue when a female known to Police was observed in the area. The female was subject of an arrest warrant for the offences of Fail to Comply with Probation x 2 and Fail to Attend Court. The 49-year-old female was arrested and lodged at the Brandon Police Service to appear for Court. Arrest Warrant – Fail to Comply with Probation Possession of Methamphetamine, Possess Weapon Dangerous, Carry Concealed Weapon, Obstruct Police Officer On January 1st, 2026 at approximately 1:36 PM, Police observed a male in the 000 block of 10th street who was subject of an arrest warrant for the offences of Fail to Comply with Probation. The male was arrested on the strength of the warrant, where a search incidental to arrest yielded a small amount of crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine, as well as a home-made weapon. As a result, the male was also charged with Fail to Comply with Release Order x 2, Possession of Methamphetamine, Carry Concealed Weapon, Possess Weapon Dangerous and Obstruct Police Officer. The 45-year-old was lodged at the Brandon Police Service to appear for Court in the morning of January 2nd. The Protective Detention and Care of Intoxicated Persons Act On January 1st, 2026 at approximately 6:30 PM, a business located in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue called to report an intoxicated male who kept falling over and laying in the roadway. A 38-year-old male was located and arrested due to his intoxicated state and his inability to care for himself, where he was lodged at the Brandon Police Service to be released once sober.

Keystone Centre Announces Comprehensive Reduction in Concession Prices

The Keystone Centre is pleased to announce that, in coordination with exclusive in-house food and beverage provider Sodexo Live, fans visiting the arena will immediately experience a reduction in concessions prices. Effective January 1st, concessions supplied by Sodexo Live at the Keystone Centre have been reduced across the board, including meal combos, beverages, popcorn. The Keystone Centre’s bars will also see reductions in pricing, including a new pre-game drink special offering select beer for $5. The next major event fans can experience these brand-new savings at will be the Brandon Wheat Kings home game on Wednesday, January 7th where the Wheat Kings are offering their own special offer of $10 tickets for ALL ages.

Virden RCMP investigating homicide

On December 30, 2025, at 4:55 am, Virden RCMP were dispatched to a report of a stabbing at a residence in the community of Sioux Valley Dakota Nation. Officers responded immediately and upon arrival were advised that the male suspect had fled on foot. Two males, aged 23 and 25, were located at the residence with stab wounds. The 25-year-old was transported to hospital by EMS in serious condition and shortly thereafter succumbed to his injuries. The 23-year-old sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Officers were able to locate the suspect a short time later at another residence in the community and he was arrested without incident with the assistance of RCMP officers from the Blue Hills Detachment, the West District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST) and Police Dog Services. A 16-year-old male youth, from Sioux Valley Dakota Nation, has been charged with Second Degree murder. Virden RCMP, along with Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services, continue to investigate.    

Snow Clearing Update for December 30, 2025

Brandon, MB - Over the last few days, the City received between 3 - 6 cm of snow. With another 5 cm of snow anticipated tonight, crews will begin clearing priority routes tomorrow, Dec. 31 at 12 Noon. If snowfall during this event exceeds the 13 cm before priority routes are finished, a City-wide Snow Event will be triggered, and residential zones will be added to the schedule at that time. Streets, Sidewalks, and Multi-Use Paths: -Crews will start clearing the Priority 1A Route tomorrow, Dec. 31 at 12 Noon. Backlanes -Crews expect to start clearing back lanes on Fri, Jan. 2 at 8 a.m. Updates on snow clearing efforts will be available on snowmap.brandon.ca starting tomorrow, Dec. 31 at 12 Noon. Man Arrested After Breaking Window, Found With Suspected Cocaine and Meth

Possession For the Purposes of Trafficking – Cocaine/Methamphetamine On December 29th, 2025 at approximately 5:00 PM, Police received a call from a female in the 1200 block of 10th street stating that a male known to her just broke a window to her residence. On arrival, the suspect was located attempting to leave the area in a taxi. Search incidental to arrest yielded a quantity of individually wrapped powder and crystal substance believed to be cocaine and methamphetamine. The 20-year-old male was later released for Court in February 2026. Arrest Warrant – Theft Under $5000 On December 29th, 2025 at approximately 4:13 PM, Members of the Brandon Police Service conducted a pedestrian stop with a male in about the 100 block of Rosser Avenue where it was confirmed there was a warrant for his arrest for Theft Under $5000. The 40-year-old male was arrested on the strength of the warrant and later released for Court in January 2026. Theft Under $5000 On December 29th, 2025 at approximately 4:31 PM, employees of a business located in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue flagged down Members of the Brandon Police Service as there was an individual who was concealing unpaid merchandise. Police attended and arrested the 21-year-old male for Theft Under $5000 who was later released for Court in February 2026.
