Virden RCMP investigating homicide

On December 30, 2025, at 4:55 am, Virden RCMP were dispatched to a report of a stabbing at a residence in the community of Sioux Valley Dakota Nation.

Officers responded immediately and upon arrival were advised that the male suspect had fled on foot. Two males, aged 23 and 25, were located at the residence with stab wounds.

The 25-year-old was transported to hospital by EMS in serious condition and shortly thereafter succumbed to his injuries. The 23-year-old sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers were able to locate the suspect a short time later at another residence in the community and he was arrested without incident with the assistance of RCMP officers from the Blue Hills Detachment, the West District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST) and Police Dog Services.

A 16-year-old male youth, from Sioux Valley Dakota Nation, has been charged with Second Degree murder.
Virden RCMP, along with Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services, continue to investigate.
