Fire at Hospital On September 7th at approximately 12:53 PM, hospital security reported a fire outside the Emergency Room at the corner of the ramp. Smoke and flames extended to the HVAC system. Brandon Fire & Emergency Services responded promptly and successfully contained the fire. At this time, the fire is considered non-suspicious. Assault Causing Bodily Harm On September 7th at approximately 7:02 PM, police responded to a report of an assault that had occurred in a hotel room in the 3500 block of Victoria Avenue. A 20-year-old female was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend, a 26-year-old male. During the assault, the victim sustained an injury to her upper lip that required stitches. The suspect was located on scene, arrested, and charged in relation to the incident. He was held in BPS detention cells and is scheduled to appear in court the morning of September 8th, 2025. Assault On September 7th at 8:39PM police were called to the 1200 block of Rosser Avenue due to a reported Assault. A 24-year-old female was walking home from a bar, and she allegedly didn’t stop at the request of her ex-boyfriend, who then grabbed her by the hair and smacked her in the face. The 30-year-old male was arrested and later released with conditions via Undertaking. A court date of November 3rd, 2025 has been set.

The Manitoba government is warning Manitobans about fraudulent text messages involving provincial fine payments and tax credits, which are part of a phishing scam. This week, members of the public reported receiving texts from a sender claiming to be Manitoba Justice and demanding payment for outstanding fines for provincial offences including speeding tickets and traffic violations. Manitoba Justice currently does not send payment requests or any official communications via text. Anyone with concerns about outstanding fines or questions about methods of communications should contact Manitoba Justice directly or visit: www.gov.mb.ca/justice/tickets/index.html. Other recipients have recently received a text asking them to finalize their Homeowners Affordability Tax Credit (HATC) by clicking a link. Manitobans who receive these types of texts should not respond or click on any links within the message and should avoid providing any personal information. The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating this person who is “WANTED BY POLICE”: Amy Goodon FOR Theft Under, Failure to Attend Court x3, Failure to Comply Undertaking On April 29th, 2025 police attended a business located in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue for a theft complaint. Amy Goodon had stolen merchandise from the business and was subsequently arrested for Theft Under $5000. Goodon has failed to attend court to answer to her charge, therefore a warrant for her arrest has been issued. On September 2nd, 2025 police were notified of a pick pocket that occurred at a business in the 2600 block of Victoria Avenue. Assault with a Weapon / Resist Arrest On September 5th at approximately 2:42 AM, BPS officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in the 400 block of 4th Street. The complaint involved a 30-year-old male attempting to assault a 24-year-old male with a screwdriver. Upon arrival, officers were met by the 30-year-old male exiting the residence. He initially resisted arrest. A screwdriver and a metal rod were recovered at the scene. The victim did not sustain any injuries during the incident. The accused was held in BPS detention cells and will appear in court in the morning. Possession of a Weapon / Theft Under $5000 On September 4th at approximately 6:00AM an employee from a business in the 1500 block of 1st Street reported a female was in the restaurant acting erratically and talking to herself. She had also been there the night before and had stolen merchandise. Police attended and found the intoxicated by drug female to be in possession of a knife. The female was arrested, held in BPS detention cells, and will be released via Undertaking once sober with a future court date of November 13th, 2025.
