Brandon Police arrest pair on drug trafficking charges during traffic stop

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release Just before 2:00 AM this morning, a vehicle stop was conducted in the 2500 block Victoria Avenue.  A small quantity of cocaine was located in the vehicle.  As a result of the investigation, a 36 year-old male and a 25 year-old male, both from Brandon, were arrested for possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.  They were released from custody on appropriate police imposed conditions and are to appear in court on October 14th.  Additionally, the 36 year-old male was charged with theft under $5000 relating to him stealing a shop tool from Canadian Tire on June 30th.  He is to appear in court on October 18th on that charge.

Suspect arrested for possessing a stolen credit card

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release A 45 year-old male was arrested on Saturday evening for possessing a stolen credit card, after being identified by the card’s owner as being the suspect.  The accused had befriended the victim and then stole her purse, containing the card.  A member on patrol observed the accused and, upon arresting him, recovered the stolen credit card which had been used at several locations.  The matter is still under investigation and additional charges are relating to the use of the card are expected.

Driver of single-vehicle rollover accident in Brandon flees scene

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At 11:08 p.m. Friday, officers happened upon a single vehicle rollover accident in a parking lot at 34th Street and Victoria Avenue. Witnesses observed a truck driving through the lot strike a light pole and flip onto its side. The driver, who was the lone occupant, then fled the area on foot. A police K9 unit attempted to track the suspect but was not successful. Witnesses described the suspect as a bald Caucasian male wearing a tank top and shorts. There were no known injuries, and this matter remains under active investigation. **updated July 31, 2021** New photos added.

Man arrested after allegedly brandishing handgun and machete

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release On July 29, 2021, police responded to a report of a male who was brandishing both a handgun and a machete in the 600 block of Dennis Street, at approximately 9:30 pm.  There were several other individuals in the area at the time, but they had all fled prior to police arrival.  There were no reported injuries. Investigation led police to a residential address where a male matching security footage images of the suspect was located and arrested.  He provided police with a false name. Further investigation revealed his identity, and the fact that the 31-year-old male was to abide by conditions not to possess any weapon and to abstain from alcohol consumption. He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on charges of Possession of a Weapon, Public Mischief, Fail to Comply with Release Order X2, and Fail to Comply with Probation.

Brandon Police recover stolen vehicle

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release On July 28, 2021, at noon, police stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of 7th street that was stolen out of Thunder Bay Ontario.  The 40-year-old male driver from Westman was arrested.  He was found to be in breach of several release conditions. He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on charges of Possess Property Obtained by Crime, Fail to Comply with Release Order X2, and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.
