Motor vehicle accident remains under investigation

At approximately 6:45 AM on August 7, 2025, 911 dispatch advised of a single-vehicle rollover on the north service road just north of Highway 1. Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle resting on its passenger side in the south ditch. Surveillance footage confirms the vehicle was traveling westbound on the service road when it drifted into the south ditch, struck an approach, became airborne, and flipped end-over-end before coming to a stop. The lone occupant, a 25-year-old female, was able to exit the vehicle through the sunroof. Emergency Medical Services transported the driver to hospital in serious condition. Family members were notified and attended the hospital. At the time of this report, the driver remains in the Intensive Care Unit at BRHC. Reported injuries include two fractured vertebrae and a punctured lung. The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Our thoughts are with the victim and her loved ones during this difficult time, and we wish her strength and a full recovery.

Brandon Police Investigating Suspicious Death of 35-Year-Old Man

The Brandon Police Service extends our thoughts to the family and loved ones affected by the sudden loss of a 35-year-old local Brandon man. On August 7, 2025, at approximately 11:26 AM, officers responded to a report of a deceased individual located in the yard of a residence in the 600 block of 9th Street. Upon arrival, the circumstances and injuries observed led officers to treat the death as suspicious. The deceased has been identified as a 35-year-old male. His identity is not being released at this time. The investigation is ongoing and is being led by the BPS Major Crimes Section. An autopsy has been ordered to assist in determining the cause of death. No further details are available at this time. Province Extends State of Emergency

Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure’s Emergency Management Organization is advising that provincewide state of emergency under the Emergency Measures Act will be extended to Aug. 22 due to ongoing wildfires across Manitoba. The state of emergency was declared on July 10 and remained in effect for 30 days. This extension will keep the state of emergency in place until Aug. 22. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

On August 6th at approximately 5:05 AM, a taxi driver reported that after dropping off five individuals in the 1300 block of Victoria Avenue, one of the passengers took the driver’s bag, which contained cash and receipts, upon exiting the vehicle. Police were able to quickly locate the suspects, and a 31-year-old female was arrested and charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. The stolen property was recovered and returned to its rightful owner. The accused will be released in the morning once sober and is scheduled to appear in court on October 20th, 2025.

Notice of 2025 Micro Surfacing work in the City of Brandon

Starting Wed, Aug. 6, 2025, a contractor will be resurfacing various streets across the City of Brandon. The City anticipates road/lane closures during the work, which will take approximately one day to complete for each street being micro surfaced. Micro surfacing is a treatment used to extend the life cycle of weathered, pitted and raveling asphalt roadway surfaces. “No Parking” signs will go up one day in advance to notify nearby residents and businesses.
