Traffic stop leads to seizure of meth, fentanyl, & stolen identification

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release On 2020-10-01 at approximately 12:50 P.M. a traffic stop was conducted in the 1700 block of Highland Avenue.  The driver of the vehicle was found to be driving without a valid licence.  The license plate on the vehicle was also found to be off another vehicle.  The member conducting the stop observed drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.  The 35 year old driver from British Columbia and a 21 year old female were placed under arrest.  A search of the vehicle incidental to the arrest resulted in the seizure of Methamphetamines, Fentanyl, and stolen identification which included two Canadian Passports.  Both subjects were held in custody to appear in court on October 2nd, 2020.

T-Bone Crash at Highway 1 and 110

Emergency crews responded to the intersection of Highway 1 and Highway 110 (Eastern Access) shortly before 2:00 on Thursday afternoon for a two-vehicle crash involving a rollover. A pickup truck and an SUV collided in the intersection, which caused the pickup to roll, eventually ending up on its roof. A large amount of debris was strewn across the road as a result of the collision. A Brandon Fire and Emergency Services Fire Captain confirmed that at least one person had to be extricated by firefighter/paramedics from the overturned truck, and at least one person was transported to hospital by their ambulance. Brandon Fire and Emergency Services, Blue Hills RCMP, RM of Cornwallis Police, and Champion Towing responded to the scene. BFES Fire Captain said that the scene was left in the care of Blue Hills RCMP, and they continue to investigate.

Police investigating report of a Robbery at a Corral Centre business

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At 1243 hours Wednesday afternoon police received a report of a Robbery at business in the Corral Centre. An unknown subject attempted to leave the store with unpaid items in a bag. When approached by staff he pulled out a machete that was concealed inside his jacket. The male then stated he was leaving. A search of the area for the subject by police was conducted. No arrest have been made at this time. This complaint is still under Investigation.

Firefighters Extricate Driver from Rolled Car

Brandon Fire and Emergency Services and Blue Hills RCMP responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash on Veterans Way (Highway 457) just west of the Eastern Access (Highway 110) junction. The small red car had left the roadway, rolled through a large ditch, and came to rest on its roof on the upward slope of the ditch. The driver was trapped inside the vehicle and unable to get out. Firefighter/Paramedics used extrication tools to remove the occupant from the vehicle. Miraculously the driver was able to walk away from the crash uninjured.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered- Suspect Arrested

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release On September 29, 2020, police received a report of a stolen vehicle from the 700 block of Percy Street in the early morning hours. At 9:39 am, police received information from Onstar that the vehicle was located via GPS trace near the 2000 block of Queens Ave. Further investigation led police to discover the suspect nearby. The 21-year-old male was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service. He appeared in court later that day on several charges including Theft of Motor Vehicle, Possess Weapon, Fail to Comply with Undertaking, and Fail to Comply with Probation.
