City of Brandon announces Green Cart Program for 2020

Brandon, MB – The City of Brandon’s Sanitation Section wishes to advise all program participants that Tuesday, May 5th, will be the start date for this year’s Green Cart Program. Once underway, weekly pick-up will be maintained through to early November, weather-dependant. All collection days will coincide with a household’s regular refuse and recycling pick-up day. Program participants are reminded to have their Green Cart out for pick-up no later than 6 a.m. on their scheduled pick-up day, and should have all bins pulled off the laneway or curb on non-pick-up days. Participants should only be using compostable plastic bags or kraft paper bags as bin liners, and are also encouraged to rinse their Green Cart out regularly to avoid compost residues or odors. A reminder of what materials are and are not accepted in the Green Cart program can be found at https://www.brandon.ca/sanitation/collection/green-cart-program/acceptable-material. A particular reminder that pet droppings should be double-bagged and placed into the appropriate refuse bins ONLY and NOT into Green Carts.
