Brandon hit by flooding following heavy rain Sunday evening

More aftermath photos of tonight's intense storm that hammered Brandon and area. Several reports of flooded streets, toppled trees, and downed power lines. Some areas reporting 5 inches of rain as of 10pm. Updated June 29, 2020 at 2:30pm: Weatherlogics is reporting that "Brandon received additional rainfall last night and recorded 155.5 mm for the day, breaking its previous all-time daily precipitation record."

Woman charged with impaired driving

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At approx. 11:00 AM Saturday, police were called regarding a possible impaired driver in the area of the 300 block of 6th St.  Members attended to the area, however the vehicle was no longer in the area, nor had it returned to the address of its owner.  A short time later an officer observed the vehicle in the 600 block of 6th St and a stop was initiated.  The driver, a 21-year-old female of Brandon was observed by the officer to be under the influence of alcohol and was therefore arrested for impaired driving.  She provided two samples of her breath, which resulted in readings approx. twice the legal limit.  She was released to a sober friend, and will appear in court on September 7, charged with impaired driving and drive over .08.

Attempted vehicle stop leads to short foot pursuit

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At approx. 12:45 AM today, police attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of the 1200 block of Lorne Ave.  The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot but was apprehended after a short foot pursuit.  Once located, the driver was identified and found to be prohibited from driving and in breach of his court ordered undertaking.  The 36-year-old Brandon man was held at BPS for court today.  The 26-year-old female passenger of Russell MB was also breaching conditions of her release.  She will appear in court today as well.
