Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release On March 11, 2020, shortly before 10:00 pm, police responded to a report of a disturbance in the 900 block of Rosser, as witnesses observed three individuals fighting. Two of the three fled prior to police arrival, but were located and arrested a short distance away. One of the suspects was in possession of a set of brass knuckles. Investigation revealed that the disturbance was actually a robbery, and property from the third individual was found on both of the arrested suspects. The victim did not require medical attention. A 35-year-old male was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear in court today on charged of Armed Robbery, Carry Concealed Weapon, and Possess Prohibited Weapon. A 19-year-old female was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear in court today on charged of Armed Robbery, Assault with a Weapon, and Fail to comply with Undertaking.

The Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba is monitoring the situation with Covid-19 very closely. The health and safety of our fairgoers is always a top priority. As Royal Manitoba Winter Fair is fast approaching, we are continuing to monitor the situation and develop and improve our plans based on facts we receive directly from Manitoba Health. We do have extensive handwash and hand sanitizer stations at all our events and we have increased the number of units for the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair 2020. We are in contact with Manitoba Health on a regular basis for all our events. We have requested extra support and contact with them for our protocols based on the facts that they have immediate access to. Manitoba Health is very pleased with our protocols and facilities for handwashing and sanitizing. We have always encouraged people to wash their hands to promote healthy lifestyle for all our attendees and this year will be even more noticeable with public awareness greater and our own increased capacity (we have hand wash and hand sanitizer stations throughout the facility). We are working directly with the great Keystone Centre facility to ensure that any additional steps needed for biosecurity and environmental cleanliness are being taken in the entire facility. We are also developing plans with our First Aid support St John Ambulance and our security staff from Paladin security. Brandon, MB – The onset of spring weather means the City of Brandon Streets & Roads Section’s attention has turned to patching the potholes popping up on City roadways. Multiple Streets and Roads crew are now out on a daily basis, patching early-season potholes with a temporary winter asphalt and tar mixture. Motorists are urged to drive with care and caution around crews as they conduct this work on City streets through the season. Once more consistently warmer temperatures arrive, crews can begin using the City of Brandon’s in-house asphalt reclaimer and asphalt pre-mix heater to patch potholes more permanently with hot mix. Later in the spring, the Public Works Department will be able to secure a commercial supply of hot mix asphalt. Motorists are encouraged to help crews out where possible and report problem potholes by calling the City of Brandon’s 24-hour Pothole Hotline at 204-729-2200. While the phone line is monitored for issues to be addressed, calls are not returned. Residents can also alert Street & Roads staff to problem potholes by submitting an online report on the City’s website by following this link: http://www.brandon.ca/report-an-issue. The City of Brandon reminds its residents that Victoria Avenue west of First Street, Richmond Avenue east of 18th Street, all of First Street (including the bridge), and all of 18th Street (including the bridges), are under the jurisdiction of the Province of Manitoba and, therefore, do not fall within the City of Brandon’s pothole patching program. Residents wishing to report a pothole or unsafe driving condition on a Provincial roadway can call 1-866-MANITOBA (1-866-626-4862). Residents should also note that the City of Brandon’s pothole patching program does not apply to the aprons (sloped approaches) leading into private driveways, nor does it apply to the accesses/approaches or parking lots of private businesses. Source:Brandon Police Service Media Release At 2:05 PM Friday afternoon, an employee from Superstore reported that a 43 year old male, known to them, and another male suspect, had stolen approx. $100 in meat products from the store. At about 2:45 PM, the primary suspect was located in the 900 block Rosser Avenue and arrested for theft.  He was also found to be in breach of a Probation Order that directed he abstain from alcohol, as he was intoxicated.  He was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre and later released to appear in court on April 9th.
