Car show cruising into Brandon this weekend

A car & bike show raising funds for the BRHA Pediatrics & Neonatal intensive care unit will be taking place in Brandon this Sunday from 11am-4pm. The event (Childhood Dreams Car Show) will be held at Meadows School and is free to spectators. A number of vendors and food trucks are scheduled to be onsite. Those looking to register their vehicle, or those looking for additional information can click this link. The festivities kick off Saturday evening at Resurrection Paint Correction & Auto Detailing (245 17th Street N) with a rib night (ribs, mac-n-cheese, coleslaw, drink) prepared by Smoked & Sauced Mobile BBQ. Supper is only $20 and starts at 6pm with a cruise to follow around 8pm. Spectators wishing to view the cruising vehicles can hang out in some of the parking lots along 18th Street. More details here.

School Bus and Jeep Collide

Mid-afternoon on Tuesday, Brandon Fire and Emergency Services and Brandon Police Service responded to the intersection of 36th St. and Victoria Ave for a two vehicle crash, involving a school bus and a Jeep. Visual damage appeared minor, and no children appeared to be on the school bus at the time. Emergency crews were able to clear shortly after arriving. Photos by: Liam Pattison Photography.

Best West Pet Foods Evacuated

Early Monday afternoon, Brandon Fire and Emergency Services and Brandon Police Service responded to the Best West Pet Foods store for a fire. An air conditioning unit on the top of the building malfunctioned and started smoking. Emergency crews arrived and were able to get the small incident under control quickly. A positive pressure ventilation fan (PPV fan) was set up at the front door to clear the business of smoke. All businesses in the strip mall were evacuated for precaution, everybody was able to return to their stores within half an hour.  Photos by Liam Pattison Photography.

Police looking for suspects involved in overnight robbery

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release On Sept 16 about 1:30 am, police received a report of from a business on Middleton Ave that they had been robbed. Four subjects entered and business with firearms and threatened to shoot the clerk. They stole a couple of small safes and a cash box with a quantity of cash. The subjects are described as: Male, native, about 6 ft, husky build, mid 30's. Male, native, about 5 ft 8 in, small build, 30's. Male unknown desc; Female, native, about 5 ft, skinny build, 30's.

Suspect arrested for allegedly stealing sex toy, lingerie

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release On August 30, a suspect entered a store in the 600 blk 18th St. and stole a sex toy. On Sept 7, the same suspect stole some lingerie from a store in the 1400 blk Princess Ave. He was identified from the video surveillance and on Sept 16 about 4:45 am police observed the suspect in the 100 blk Louise Ave. He was arrested for the thefts and later released to appear in court on Nov 12, 2019.
