Redesigned Brandon tourism website launches

Brandon, MB -- After a successful launch of a new regional place brand for the community of Brandon earlier this month, Brandon Tourism is excited to continue that momentum today, unveiling a redesigned website that will incorporate the new logo, colour scheme and is more user friendly. In partnership with the City of Brandon, the new look to www.BrandonTourism.com will consist of main menu items Do, Stay, Eat and Here - all of which will provide the user with instant access to listing information most requested by visitors to the city of Brandon. The design is specifically oriented for visitors and incorporates features found on other popular tourism sites. “We’re really excited about the potential of this site and how much it will benefit not only tourists visiting our city but local residents as well,” said Lanny Stewart, Brandon Tourism Manager. “This redesign allows for a more streamlined approach for users. I can’t thank the City of Brandon’s Information Technology Department enough for their work on this project.” The refreshed site will also include information on upcoming events, and will incorporate a News blog that will consist of continued updates on anything and everything tourism-related in and around the city. “Whether it’s a new restaurant, hotel, major event, or anything else that will attract people to our wonderful city, BrandonTourism.com will do its best to keep folks ‘in the know’ so-to-speak,” Stewart continued. Free public presentations on the importance of Wills and estate planning

The Brandon Area Community Foundation (BACF), Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, and the City of Brandon’s Age Friendly Committee wish to extend an invite to all members of the community interested in learning more about the importance of Wills and estate planning to consider attending a pair of free public presentations being hosted in Brandon during Will Week 2019. Recent surveys by both CIBC Bank and the Ontario-based LawPRO insurance company have indicated that approximately half of Canadians do not have a valid Will in place that contains their last wishes in the event of their passing. With this in mind,  BACF and the City of Brandon’s Age Friendly Committee have scheduled the following seminar opportunities for interested members of the public during Will Week 2019 (April 22nd to April 27th) where they may learn more about Wills, Power of Attorney and Health Care Directives. Tuesday, April 23rd at 6:30 p.m. at the Cultural Resource Centre, 638 Princess Avenue, Door “B” Wednesday, April 24th at 2 p.m. at the Brandon Court House, 1104 Princess Avenue The FREE sessions, delivered by lawyers from Meighen Haddad and Patersons law offices as a public service, will include information on how to create a will, how to update an existing will, and how to make a charitable gift within a will. Information regarding the importance of an enduring Power of Attorney and a clear Health Care Directive will be included as well. While the seminars are free to attend, seating is limited and pre-registration is required by calling 204-571-0529. “These sessions will provide great information to people of all ages,” notes Laura Kempthorne, Executive Director with the Brandon Area Community Foundation. “Having a valid, up-to-date Will, Health Care Directive and Power of Attorney ensures that your wishes will be met after your death. It also provides a great opportunity to make a charitable gift to a cause that's important to you.” “Securing a Will and other such documents prior to a person’s passing is important for people of all ages,” adds Jan Chaboyer, Co-chair of City of Brandon Age Friendly Committee. “Having a Will, an identified Power of Attorney and a clear Health Care Directive provides an individual or their loved one the ultimate respect by ensuring their wishes can be carried on in their absence.” More information about the Brandon Area Community Foundation visit http://www.bacf.ca/.
