Homeowner locates rifle on property, turns it over to police

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release Police received a report from a homeowner in the East End, that they had located a sawed-off, 22-caliber, Savage Mark 12 rifle in a bush on their property. It is unknown how long the rifle was there before the homeowner discovered it. The rifle was turned over to police. Should homeowners discover anything suspicious on their property, they can contact Brandon Police for advice on what to do with it.

Dine and dash leads to arrest in Brandon

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release Shortly after 9:00 pm, police received a report of a male who ordered and consumed a meal at a restaurant in the 1500 Block of 18th Street, before leaving without paying. The staff followed the individual until he was stopped and arrested by police. The 41-year-old male will appear I court in August 26, 2019.

Single-vehicle rollover leads to impaired driving charges for driver

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At 8:25 pm on Saturday, a 911 caller reported a single vehicle roll over accident at Queen Elizabeth Park on 26th St North. Officers attended and located a female driver who had reversed off the roadway into the ditch, causing her vehicle to roll over. She showed signs of impairment and was arrested. She failed a breathalyzer test and was charged with Driver over 80 Mg% and Impaired driving. She was released to appear in court in July. Two passengers in the vehicle fled the scene and were located by the Police Service Dog Unit. A 30 year man was arrested as he was in breach of an undertaking by consuming alcohol. He was lodged and will be released to appear in court in August. The second male, will be released to appear in court in August. The second male, a 37 year old from Winnipeg, violated his parole conditions and was arrested. He was lodged at BCC.

Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Brandon & area

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Brandon & surrounding area. It says we could see a severe thunderstorm develop late this afternoon and this evening. "Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, damaging hail and torrential rain," Environment Canada said in its alert. Environment Canada says these storms are capable of producing strong wind gusts and large hail which can damage property or cause an injury. You’re being asked to continue to monitor forecasts and alerts issued by the organization.

Couple hide during residential break and enter in Brandon

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At 3:15 am on Saturday morning, the resident of an apartment in the 500 block of Louise Ave reported a man had just broke down the door of the apartment and she and her boyfriend were hiding inside. Officers set up around the area and the Police Service Dog unit conducted a search. The K9 officer and his partner located a male nearby and he was arrested for the break and enter. He was lodged at BCC and will appear in court on Saturday.
