Local Carpenter Honoured

Brandon, MB - Yesterday, in Winnipeg, at the Merit Awards of Excellence Banquet, Bartley Curtis, President of CW2 Construction & Design Ltd. won the Outstanding Journeyman and Mentor Award for 2019. CW2 is a full service construction company providing general contracting for commercial, industrial, and residential construction. Where project bonding and COR certification usually takes five to seven years, CW2 achieved both within their first nine months. CW2’s credited projects range from less than a thousand to millions of dollars in scope. Curtis is a Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter and currently acts as the President of two startup companies, CW2 Construction & Design Ltd. and Guardian Fencing Ltd.He has worked diligently to build both companies and grow their resources, client base, and the internal skills sets of the team. Curtis is an accomplished carpenter and estimator, not to forget Project Manager. He, along with his partners, started the companies in 2016 and has grown CW2 to a successful team of 20 with a minimum of 8 projects running concurrently. “The #1 reason I nominated Bartley is because he has been the carpenter of his own companies, being thoughtful, strategic, and focused on the end product”, said Tanya LaBuick, Chief Operating Officer for CW2 and Guardian, and one of Curtis’ partners. Curtis grew into his current position with hands on experience building his technical skills of estimating, constructability, site assessment, professional discipline coordination, client interface, training, and innovation. “Our entire team looks to him for guidance, advice, reason, and direction”, said Jon Geddert, Estimator/Project Coordinator. Curtis is also an active community member participating as the Senior Coach and Mentor for our local Mixed Martial Arts Association. In over 20+ years competing Curtis worked his way through point fighting, full contact, knockdown, kickboxing, K1 rules, and Muay Thai bouts. He retired ranked #2 in Canada by the World Kickboxing Association. Becky Farguson, CW2 Administrative Coordinator, was also nominated for Outstanding Office Worker; she received a honourary gift as well.
