Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At approximately 1:00 am police conducted a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Rosser Ave. E as the vehicle had inactive plates. The occupants were observed to have open liquor bottles in plain view which lead to their initial arrests. They were found to be in possession of two bags of meth totaling approximately 15 grams, a bag containing a mixture of Meth and a cutting agent, other drug trafficking paraphernalia, and a set of brass knuckles. A 22-year-old male was arrested on charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Meth, Possession of Prohibited Weapon, and Breach of Probation. A 30-year-old female was arrested on charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Meth, and Possession of Prohibited Weapon. They will both appear in court on August 8, 2019.

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release On Thursday morning, six individuals discovered their vehicle tires had been slashed overnight in the 800 block of 15th street, 700 block of 16th street, and 700 block of 17th street. The suspect is a male who was observed in the area, wearing a blue jacket with a black stripe across the chest. A photo of the suspect is available. Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release On May 20, 2019, Brandon Police Service was made aware of a counterfeit U.S. $100 bill that was successfully cashed. The fake was caught by a local bank and reported to police. On June 3, 2019 a second counterfeit U.S. $100 bill was passed at a local business which resembled the original fake passed in May. Media outlets in the U.S. have reported multiple stories on these counterfeit bills over the last several years. The bills have come in most U.S. currency denominations, and all bear similar, pink, Chinese lettering. The two $100 U.S. counterfeits which have turned up here in Brandon share this lettering, which should be a give-away that the bill is counterfeit. In recent months’ similar counterfeit $100 U.S. bills have been turning up across Canada. The texture of the counterfeits is not consistent with U.S. currency which is made out of cotton. U.S. Currency has a similar feel to the currency that Canada phased out in recent years since creating the polymer note. The counterfeit currency feels similar to plain paper. The U.S. counterfeits also lack all the security features on U.S currency such as the security thread, colour shifting ink, watermark, and raised ink. If you accept a counterfeit bill, you will not receive compensation for the monetary loss.  Businesses are reminded that they are under no obligation to accept foreign currency when it is presented. At a luncheon held today at the Clarion Hotel & Suites, the Brandon Chamber of Commerce officially welcomed Cathy Snelgrove as their new Chamber President. She replaces outgoing President, Jeff Hood. "Cathy, one of the founding partners of Siere, advises business owners in the growth and profitability of their businesses." Last year she also held the position of Vice-President of the Brandon Chamber. The luncheon was sponsored by Progressive Sanitation.

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release On June 5, 2019, at approximately 3:56 am, police responded to a reported firearm incident in the 1000 block of 9th street. The incident occurred within a residence. A 34-year-old female was shot, and transported to Brandon Regional Health Centre with serious but non-life threatening injuries. She was subsequently sent to Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre for further treatment. All other individuals found in the residence have been brought to Brandon Police Service for questioning. Police do not believe this incident to be random. Patrol members have remained on scene while members of Brandon Police Service Major Crimes Unit continue to investigate.
