Local police pursuit ensues following stolen work truck Tuesday evening

Source:  Brandon Police Service Media Release On January 29, 2019, at 8:55pm, police were advised a work truck had been stolen from a business in the 1900’ block of Park Ave. The vehicle was located in the 500’ block of 26th Street. Police attempted a traffic stop and the driver refused to stop. Police pursued the vehicle; however, terminated the pursuit a short time later. The vehicle was later located abandon in the 300’ block of 16th Street. Police continue to investigate.

Taser deployed after Police challenged by suspect with a fire extinguisher and a hatchet

Source:  Brandon Police Service Media Release On January 28th, 2019, at 4:05pm, police were called to an apartment building in the 700’ block of Rosser Ave, as a 59 year old male had just been assaulted. Upon arrival police located the victim who had non-life threatening injuries to his upper body. While tending to the victim, the 34 year old male suspect opened his apartment door and challenged police with a fire extinguisher and a hatchet. Police deployed a taser and after a brief struggle, the suspect was taken into custody. He was lodged at BCC for court on January 29th, 2019.

Rural bus cancellation Tuesday, Brandon School Division Schools will be open

Brandon School Division buses will not be operating outside the city of Brandon for Tuesday January 29th all day. All Brandon School Division Schools will be open. Buses will be running within the city of Brandon. Attendance at schools is at parental discretion where travel is required. Please call your school if you are not going to be attending. Please exercise due caution.

Mental Health Event Announcement featuring Hall of Famer Jayna Hefford

The Pandolfi Initiative, fresh off a sold out comedy show in support of Big Bothers Big Sisters, has announced their next event. “Out Of Our Minds” - Exploring Mental Health & Resiliency, an event with designs to END THE STIGMA on mental health, features 5 time Olympic Medal Winner and Commissioner of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League Jayna Hefford.  Other speakers include Carson Shields and Big Daddy Tazz. The trio will be speaking "openly about their struggles and triumphs and the tools that they have acquired throughout their struggles with mental health." This important event takes place on Monday, April 1 at the Victoria Inn from 2-4:30 pm.  Tickets ($25) will be available starting Tuesday, January 29th and available at the Victoria Inn Brandon or by messaging Ryan Pandolfi and/or The Pandolfi Initiative. Woman charged with impaired driving after blowing twice the legal limit

Source:  Brandon Police Service Media Release At 11:40 pm, Saturday night, police conducted a traffic stop in the 2700 block of McDonald Avenue.  The 41-year-old Brandon woman showed signs of impairment and was arrested.  She provided two samples of her breath at more than twice the legal limit.  She is charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Over .08 and was released to appear in court in February.
